This is one of the best cards in a minute even if you don't like the main event. I wish they could put Erislandy Lara on the card since Zab canceled, lol. But for real I wish boxing can suppoort each other in these hards times. Floyd is trying to market himself and the sport.

Let's be real Pac vs Cotto 24/7 will probably be horrible. They both can't speak English at all. I hate when people point to the economy when talking about boxing. UFC last two PPV's did over a mill. That's even when some of there cards from the last one ******. Floyd vs JMM is doing there best to make this a great card. 2 championship fights, 2 P4P greats going at it. I can't wait and even though I wish it was Floyd vs Mosley. This is a great card

sorry, but floyd does good when he faces the hatton, oscars,,,nobody would pay to watch him face someone like baldomir,or fighters like that,i mean who gets excited about his style? casual fans? i don't think so,,,,,,,pac will sell his fight but not mayweather,,,,but pac will lose,he's just too small, not because cotto is that great,he quit against tony and looked like he wanted to quit against clottey too,but i think he was embarrased after quiting against tony and decided to fight along,,,cotto wins by ko in first or second round

Just get Pac focused for the Cotto fight Roach. Forget about the #s on this fight.

Excellent point. That was a case where styles made the fight. Pac was aggressive and Diaz was a counter puncher and it sold a whopping 100,000 PPV.

ITS BOXING PEOPLE! we should all be happy..
If Marquez is a cherry-picked opponent, what was David Diaz?

We all know what a non-partisan observer that Freddy Roach is. He didn't say how he defines "bomb". Is it 100,000, which is what Pac did against David Diaz, or is it 150,000, which is what Pac did in the first fight against Eric Morales or is it 300,000, which is the most Pac had ever drawn on PPV prior to his fight with De La Hoya.

I am a Mayweather fan and my guess is this fight will do between 350,000 and 400,000 buys, not including the movie theater buys. I guess Freddie would consider that a bomb. I believe Pac/Cotto will do around 500,000 buys and he will consider that a great success. Even though Pac/Cotto will do better on PPV I would bet that Mayweather/Marquez will gross as much if not more money because it has a lot more sponsors and a bigger site fee. Also, despite what Arum says, I doubt that Cotto/Pac will be a sellout.

The fight won't bomb but the ppv will.

Why you ask? Cuase if people are watching the fight in the theaters they arent watching it at home on ppv.

This obviously means that gbp and mp have given up on ppv. They both know that ppvs are the way to determine who makes the most money and who is the biggest draw in boxing. By providing a different outlet (showing the fight in theaters) they won't have to compete w/ pac/cotto in ppvs bought.

Its genius really cause it gives pbf/jmm an excuse whether the ppv fails or succeeds. If the ppv succeeds they can claim to have created a new market for boxing while retaining the the same ppv #s. If the ppv fails they can blame it on the fact that the theaters drove away potential ppv customers.

So all their bases are covered. Obviously it is a smokescreen to give the winner some equity against pac (should he win) in the negotiations.
