He's 22. Great step up fight IMO. It's not like he's collecting fake belts in different weight classes and acting like he's a P4P fighter. Kid is moving up the right way.
LOL Ortiz is so overrated

Dumb thread.
If he's willing to fight the top dogs, then what's the point of this dumb thread?
We'll find out, anyway. It's not like he's saying, "NOOOOO, I don't want fights that I can't win..."
You should focus on those who duck fights when offered.Comment

I agree. I believe that Ortiz needs more experience and time to develop before challenging the likes of Terence Bud Crawford and Erroll Spence, Jr. I say give him about another year because by that time either or both Crawford and Spence would be vacating that welterweight division by moving up to 154.Comment

He’s got some polishing to do but for 22 he’s legit. I’d like to see him use his REACH more. Got long arms. Be smart to use it.Comment

You do know that Maurice Hooker was the best fighter on Vergil Ortiz' resume right? So far, he hasn't fought anyone good. He has nothing but a lot of tomato cans, journeyman and gatekeepers on his resume. Now compare his resume with both Crawford's and Spence's and then tell me that you do not see a disparity. Neither man would be proving much by fighting Ortiz because it's a no win situation. If they win then neither won't get any credit for it because fans would say they were supposed to win because they were the more skilled, tested and experienced fighter. However, if they lose then they would say that they were both over hyped sensations by losing to a fighter with only 17 prizefights.Last edited by champion4ever; 03-21-2021, 08:15 PM.Comment
