I had the fight a draw personally. 113-113. Whitaker landed more at times, but overall De La Hoya's shots seemed to do a little more damage.

These days you can just throw alot and win, you don't even have to punch clean or land, you don't even have to knock your guy down, if you throw alot now you can get knocked down yourself and as long as you keep throwing alot of sloppy punches you win.

You know I have watched that fight many times and it all depends on how you score and WHAT you score the fight on. There's no doubt Oscar chased him around for the entire fight. Granted, Pernell's defense was spectacular as it was against Tito but the results were the same.

One guy chasing, the other guy slipping and moving without returning anything consistently enough to get the W.

I gave it to Oscar.

I think Oscar got cheated vs Mosley in the second fight and against Tito Trinidad.

HE got a gifted decision against Sturm though.....

He had a damn close fight with Quartey, that one is a toss up to be honest with you. I could see scoring for Oscar I could also see scoring for Quartey.

Id agree with most of that, infact i dont think either of them deserved the win because neither of them did enough to win, they say you have to take the title but from Whitaker's point of view you also gotta defend it, i would of called it a draw.

Well when they are throwing and the other guy is just clinching and not doing **** but throw one or 2 punches. That ain't ****.

The people who are big fans of flashy boxers only care about technical punches that land. To me even if he throws and lands like Calzaghe or Mayorga, I still count it.

Pernell threw punches and outlanded DLH, he mostly landed the jab. He also made DLH miss alot, which made for great Whitaker HL videos and its sad that all those punches that missed, were cheered on so heavily because DLH fans thought it landed, when it didn't.
