Calzaghe>>>>>>>>>>Roy at 168, and i'd let Roy finger my ******* if the opportunity aroused but Calzaghe owns that division.

Toney and RJJ did fcuk all at SMW, and while you can argue P4P they are better than Calzaghe no fcuking way are they better 168lbers.

Think about it for a second Toney's best win at 168 was Iran barkley who got KTFO by Benn in 1 round 2 years before.

oh and Toney was 5 rounds down on all three cards when Barkley's corner pulled him out before the start of round 11, all he had to do was stay stood up to win a wide UD.
You are severely mistaken. Have you even seen that fight? James beat Barkley to a pulp and was ahead by 6-7 points on all cards at the time of the stoppage. Haha....."all he (Barkley) had to do was stay stood up to win a wide UD", good lord this board has gone down hill.

Boxingscene's Cliff Rold did make a ranking based on objective criterias. The top 10 was as follows:

          10: Byron Mithchell
          9: James Toney
          8: Chris Eubank
          7: Nigel Benn
          6: Steve Collins
          5: Roy Jones Jr.
          4: Sven Ottke
          3: Chong Pal Park
          2: Mikkel Kessler
          1: Joe Calzaghe.

The criterias was based on resumeés and not head-to-head.

Jones and Toney fought better opposition than Calzaghe. Thats why I ranked them first. And frankly, I think that had they fought Joe in their prime, they would win.

Toney and RJJ just weren't in the division long enough to warrant such high a ranking.

Toney's best win is Iran Barkley and had a bad loss to RJJ where he looked like ****.

Like anyone on that list would have beaten that RJJ, Jones in is prime was as close to unbeatable as it came.

But he looked spectacular against Barkley and put on quite a show against Charles Williams as well. Calzaghe just didn't put on enough exciting/great performances to bypass those two. That's not to say he didn't put on any.

Calzaghe had the longevity and did stack up a lot of good wins. IMO there's really no case for not having Joe on top.

I actually agree with you. Calzaghe is my pick for number one SMW, only because SMW is naturally a division where fighters from the MW division make a quick splash, wina title or two make a defense, and head north to LHW. Calzaghe stayed theyre and defended his WBO title numerous times. However, but when he faced good fighters he never thoroughly dominated them, other than Lacy who never had beaten anybody of note anyways.
