ppv numbers? you are going to tell me that hatton carried the US PPV numbers? lmao. hattons first big fight in the US after fighting uknowns in the UK his whole career was one year before the mayweather fight, 3 fights on HBO, collazo, urango, shot castillo. but mayweather was just coming off the richest boxing fight in history, and you are going to sit there and say that hatton carried the numbers for their fight.

the mayweather-hatton fight was in the making for 2 years and every one was hyping the **** out of hatton as the one to beat mayweather,

mayweather-marquez is a ****ing tune up.

    ****ing hater.
Doesn't matter what Marquez is. He hasn't sold has he? And this is supposed to be boxing "cash cow". Only hater here is you.. refusing to aknowledge the high PPV ratings for Hatton fights. Why do you think Mayweather wanted to fight him? It wasn't because he thought he was the best..

Mayweather is a dud and needs others to sell fights, without him riding on the coat tail of a big name he is nothing.. & that's fact.

How well do you think Hatton sells out against a tune up in his hometown.. he packed a soccer stadium.

How well do you think Cotto sells out in Puerto Rico? or Pacquiao in the Filipinese?
Mayweather can't even sell out his hometown.. that's pathetic.

Floyd hate on this board is rampant, fact of the matter is that Floyd was the main reason for the U.S. HBO PPV buys of nearly 1 million. Yes Hatton probably brought more to the gate but we are talking U.S. PPV buys, which is mainly because of Floyd.
maybe Im wrong, but I never thought Hatton was really a huge ppv draw. unless Im mistaken, Hatton's first PPV fight was against Mayweather, unless his fight with Castillo was PPV and I dont think it was.

generally, that suggests he wasnt a huge name when strictly speaking about the American audience, who would be the ones providing the PPV numbers that were talking about.

Im sure he certainly played his part when it came to the PPV numbers for Mayweather-Hatton, but I always felt that Mayweather was a more of the 'draw'.

well, its not a big deal either way.
It only is to the *****'s. More than any other fans, they are obsessed with how much money their man makes/draws.

i reckon hatton was the bigger draw not only financially, but also in the fact that he brought more fans, mayweather dont bring no fans. ye so the mayweather hatton fight might have sold for 50$ in US but if im correct it sold twice the amount in the smaller UK, even if it was only for 15 quid. hatton sold out the stadium, he sold practically every ppv in the UK and probably contributed to the US sales too. if only slightly. end of

You have zero proof of this and I tend to doubt the the US is the only place that sold that PPV. Without a big name Floyd has proven that he is an average draw, live or PPV.

add the number of Hatton fans in attendance and PPV sales in England and it was pretty impressive.

Floyd draws people toward his FAMOUS OPPONENTS because he is obnoxious and everyone wants to see him get beat. But if he fights a fighter that doesn't have the kind of following of DLH, or Hatton he sells nothing. That is just the truth. Even against Gatti which was obvious imo that Gatti was going to loose it was a Gatti house.

Maybe the only one that is a toss up is his fight with Judah... maybe.

He fought a few other fighters before DLH and Hatton (not too much before... just before)

And the places were downright empty..... empty.

At the end of the day there is not many people that really like to watch a big mouthed fighter, with a relatively light punch, and non crowd pleasing style.

Everyone wants to see blood and guts, excitement, climax, and fast pace.

All of which is not Floyd

Unless people start taking a census with PPV data, all we got to go on is the disparity of the crowd. So in the end the only data we have towards sales, and drawing power, do not favor Floyd.
