I don't believe Roy is shot, and B-Hop is overrated imo.

Hey Roy, thats illegal.. so that won't work... no he didn't say that.
It is illegal, It's not against the law but no boxing commission will sanction it. That's a fact. Call the NYSAC if you don't believe it.

The boxing commission does not care what the percentages between two fighters get.

It has nothing to do with them.

And if that was the case, it would of been the first thing out of Bernards mouth.

I never said it was illegal. Only that it has NEVER been done in any fight, even though there have been countless money disputes in big fights in the past. If this was such a great idea it would have been done before. Saying that Roy really hasn't done much in the past 5 years to make money demands, and if it was Roy who had all these recent big wins, and Hopkins losing to every elite fighter since 2004 Roy probably would have said 80-20. It's odd, because when Hopkins had the win over Pavlik he praised Roy and had nothing bad to say about him, and then Roy before the Calzaghe fight while he was full of confidence, and mor eor less promising himself a victory says "Hopkins can forget a rematch" only to mention Hopkins name after the lopsided fight.

Also Hopkins had a lot of repect for him and said out of concern that Roy should retire since he clearly could not beat elite fighters. 11 months go by and Roy fights two no hopers, claims he is back at his best and says he wont accept less off the top? Come on this isn't WWE. Fights have concrete contracts stating exactly what each fighter will make before hand.

Sounds like you could just use ROy as a big money tune up.

People that say Roy doesnt deserve 60-40.

My question is... why is Bernard, and you so concerned with what the loser gets?

Why is he worried about 40%?

He's not going to get 40% right, right?

Because Roy is a shell... Right? Thats what Bernard said? Roy is a SHELL and hasnt done ANYTHING. And Bernard is a MASTER craftsman, and has OCEANS more gas in the tank than Roy... So it sounds like you're going to get your 60% Bernard... sounds like EASY work to me.

I mean you SCHOOLED Glen Johnson and Antonio Tarver, who both knocked Roy into time travel.

You should be able to collect a 10 million dollar paycheck in between naps... matter of fact you dont even need to train for this fight Bernard... Roy is so far gone, it would take literally nothing for you to show up and collect your 60% win, grab a good 8-10 million... and move on with your illustrous legacy.

Sounds like a GREAT fight to take near the tail end of your career... and you get to take Roys proposal and beat him with it.

And ALSO a great fight to get a TUNEUP for Dawson or Adamek.

Matter of fact, Roy said the winner can take 100% of everything... you hear that Bernard? You get to show up, smack around your little cousin.. and take home 100% profit (minus promotion costs) of a Jones-Hopkins LEGENDS rematch.

Oh, and you also can pick the judges, the ring, the gloves, and the venue... just in case that wasn't a sweet enough deal.

It's definitely do able, and its not about what hes accomplished... I mean 2 years ago when Roy DIDNT EVEN HAVE 2 tko wins behind him... Bernard offered him a 50-50 fight?

That was before even the Trinidad fight... he just came off 3 losses in a row and beat Badi and Hanshaw... thats way less than what he has done now (which still isnt great)...

But Bernards a business man... the fans want to see it, he DOES have the most convincing win over you in your entire career, even if beating Roy now means nothing... does 8 million dollars NOT?

Sounds like EASY work for me.

Hopkins does not want to take the 'loser takes 40' deal because he feels the fight will go to the scorecards and "you never know what can happen there"(So much for posters going on record about Hopkins can KO Roy).

Btw, Bernard himself said what i quoted in the latter part of this post. Idk about you guys but that sounds like a man who is not confident on a win against Roy.

If you think someone is so shot and should retire or whatever, all the comments that Hopkins made about Roy after Roy's loss to Calzaghe, then why not take the "little" risk of fighting him for 60/40(winner takes 60) in a very popular fight. In the east coast, at least, this fight would have old fans going crazy even now.

Make it happen Hopkins! unless you're scared???

I just remebered this thing has been done before. Ali and Frazier agreed before their third fight that the winner would get an additional million dollars taken from the losers purse. It's clearly stated in the last chapter of Ali's autobiography. They used it for additional publicity (not that they needed it).

Sounds great and all, but it doesn't change the fact that it has never happened in a big fight before, not once, and probably for good reason since this is probably not the first time it has come up. Pacquiao lost in a fight more decisive against Morales, and ended up getting the bigger purse in the rematch, whereas the first fight he was dictated to in every aspect. Boxing is about the quality of the opponents you have beat, and in the past 5 years Hopkins has excelled Jones without question in that aspect. How could jones not expect to make less?
