Bernard Hopkins does not need Roy Jones Jr.
Roy should try winning a meaningful fight before even attempting to dictate any terms of a contract.
60 - 40 to Hopkins is fair and Ex shouldn't have to budge.
I'm surprised people are ready to fall for this RJJ comeback 2x. Those of us who bought into it the first time were suckers. I'm never doing anything like that again. Roy plays around so much in the ring it looks like he's holding back... but he really was and is shot. Lacy was perfect for enhancement. Jeff doesn't even have power anymore on top of the non existent boxing I.Q. and was just a punching bag for Jones last week.Comment

It's widely known Toney had to lose a lot of weight in a short period of time to fight Jones. Him weighing the same as his previous fight has nothing to with the fact he ballooned up between the two fights.
I'm not using that as an excuse either because I think Jones, at that time, would have always beat him. I'm simply stating what is known to be facts. Toney's kryptonite has always been food and he gets fat rather quickly, that's why the fight with hopkins was never realistic since toney went to LHW
I agree with the kryptonite comment as well, back in like 96 Toney came to my city to fight Charles oliver at Station casino, I worked at the casino in the buffet and after the weigh in Toney came in and was eating food up like a mad man. Toney for his rep was a very nice man and was very very nice to me when i approached him for an autograph, i was only like 18 and at that age had he been a **** i probably would have hated him. But he wasn't and made me an even bigger fan of his. thats neither here nor there, he loves his food but at that time he fought down there alot and was used to enough to do it regularly and im just saying that weight was not an issue with jones as far as the fight goes. toney did that all the time then.Last edited by Jone2ts; 08-21-2009, 06:14 PM.Comment

Bernard Hopkins: Money has been the issue for the past ten years with us.
Roy Jones: How much will you give me
BH: I will make it a 60:40 split
RJ: How about 60 to the winner and 40 to the loser
BH: Now you want to make a contest out of it. I don’t need Roy Jones. It could wind up in the judges hands and you never know what will happen.
RJ: You pick the judges.
BH: If RJ will take 40, we can get it done before the year is out. But if not…
RJ: He already has an L on his record from me and he is trying to make me take 40 so he can prove that I am the lesser man. But if will make it 60 to the winner and 40 to the loser I will take my chances with that.
BH: Do you think I would make more money fighting Roy Jones than I would a young stud like Adamek or Dawson?
RJ: Bernard doesn’t want to fight me. Why would he want to fight me? He’s having fun now at this point in his career. He doesn’t want to take that gamble.
BH: Is Roy willing to go on record to take 40% win, lose or draw?
Show Producer: How about the winner-take-all?
RJ: That’s even better for me.
Show Producer: Bernard are you there?
RJ: No. When you said winner-take-all you ran him off the phone. He’s been doing that to me for 5 years now. He disappeared. That’s what happens to me. every time.Comment
