Yeah, Joshua shoulda won an oscar for that performance. He shouldn't have been jumping in the air on top of Cotto in the 1st place. No offence to you, but that was just plain dumb move in his part. Hiram Joel has a video of it plain as day in his sig.
And i think...just my opinion...the knee thing was played up. Clottey complained quite a bit to the ref when he felt he might have been losing , mostly due to the 1st round KO.

With that said, Thanks for the info about his fight with Margo...i didn't know what the story was. You know more about that fight than I.

People keep bringing up the Cotto/Clottey fight... I just want to say watch the last 15 seconds of the 10th round. Cotto hits Clottey with 2 HUGE left hooks, and after the second one Clottey's legs seemed unsteady and his face showed that one or both of those punches hurt like hell. He probably felt he was winning the fight at this point and he decided to not put himself in danger in case that were to happen again. Secondly, along with the damage to the eye this is what Cotto was trying to do when he was "running."

The ENTIRE broadcast Steward was saying Cotto needed to catch Clottey on the way in. Cotto scored a ton of points in the 4th and 6th when he was in full on aggressor mode, but I'm sure he realized it wasn't enough to get pummeled by rights and he wasn't going to KO Clottey, at least not that way. So he started making Clottey be the aggressor and for rounds 7-9 it wasn't working his way but I think Cotto got the timing down as it always takes him a bit to do it and in the 10th, you can even hear it from Steward in the broadcast Cotto got him.

That's what made Clottey stop punching, had he had the "killer instinct" he wouldn't but his name is Clottey not Margarito. Thus... styles make fights and its why Marg beat Cotto and Clottey couldn't, Clottey is by far a better boxer than Marg and would rate him higher than Marg P4P and in terms of talent. Clottey is an A class fighter, but he just doesn't have... "it" to become an elite. He'll give any guy he fights a very very hard time and may win a couple, but I don't think he'll ever be elite.

imo he is the one fighter at 147 and possibly even 154 who has the style and ability to beat paul williams.

i think clottey beat cotto but it was a very close fight and because of that i'll let it slide. i think he could beat collazo, berto, quintana, cintron and maybe even some of the names at 154.

i think he comes in third in the rankings behind SSm and cotto and there is no shame in that.

Good in the beginning, fades in the end when he really needs to shine to win. A starting out then B- at the end.

That's why you head the Cartel. And yeah, totaly agree about respecting other fighters and their fans and their opinions. I try, I'm not a perfect poster but i try to be a good one.

Good post! To me Clottey is #3 of the top WW's.

I'm no fan of Margarito, but I do defend him somewhat when people say he would've lost that fight if Clottey hadn't got injured. Margarito went into the fight with a sprained ankle from training camp and when he showed his hand, it looked like his hand was more messed up than Clottey's was. That is the thing that makes me think that the only time he attempted to cheat in his career was when he fought Mosley. I don't like Margarito though for other reasons. I'll talk about that in another thread.

And Clottey had to deal with a sprained ankle from Cotto slamming him and he still nearly beat him. So Cotto fans have no leg to stand on when they say that Margarito would've lost his fight against Clottey, when Cotto deliberately did something to hurt Clottey with a foul and still only won a controversial decision.

He gets the better of everyone he fights. One of the best technical boxers in the game.

He played a great acting job in the Margarito fight too, but Margarito beat him more convincingly than Cotto did as I mentioned before.

I don't believe he broke his hand in that fight myself. I also don't believe Collazo broke his hand against Mosley.
