How do you rate Joshua Clottey?

He's definitely an above average fighter. I'd say that he's borderline elite.

He did one hell of a job for a guy with a bad eye his problem was that he shouldn't have tried to KO clottey because clotteys chin is to good for that.If cotto would have saved his energy and used it more wisely he wouldn't have had to run.No offense to cotto because he doesn't run because hes scared its because hes tired.Cotto did do some f-ed up things to clottey like the slam ,hit to the back of head and attempted lowblow. Clottey could of done better by throwing more punches he should improve his workrate.

Cotto slammed Clottey down cuz Clottey jumped up in the air on him. Cotto was like "get the f'ck off me! Cotto hates cliching or being clinched.

Overrated big time. The Cotto fans want you to think he is great because Cotto went life and death with him. The guy couldn't put away a blown up Corrales. And to be honest with you, I think JMM and Pacquiao could beat Clottey regardless of weight. Those two guys would've knocked out Corrales that night. And if Clottey couldn't hurt those two guys, how could he win when he doesn't have the work rate required to to make up for his lack of power. The only top fighter at 147 I think Clottey could beat is Berto. But I don't really consider Berto a top fighter so to each their own.

Clottey also would've quit on his stool against Margarito if his corner hadn't convinced him to come out for that round. Margarito beat Clottey a lot more convincingly than Cotto did.

A-level fighter, probably the most underrated and avoided fighter these days. Cintron ducked him, Berto ducked him, even Williams ducked him.
Clottey could beat anyone at 147, except Mayweather.

I'm not going to lie I was a bit disappointed in Cotto after the fight, but I also gave him propz for staying in there and doing a hell of a job with a ****ed up eye. I also think that Cotto runs cause he believe's he has the fight won, but I have boyz that say it is due to stamina issues. All in all, to me Clottey is a great fighter that just needs, as you said, to improve his workrate.

D, i think you are a great, respectable debater, but i think you are being to kind...Cotto doesn't run, he backs off (retreats-whatever) if he's taking too much punishment and needs a breather-some space to recooperate, imo. He came on strong in the last 2 rounds and ended the fight with a great left hook to Clotteys jaw.

I wasn't dissapointed, but everybody is entitled their own opinion, which should be respected.

It turned out to be a bruised knuckle when it is all said and done. I'm no fan of Margarito, but I do defend him somewhat when people say he would've lost that fight if Clottey hadn't got injured. Margarito went into the fight with a sprained ankle from training camp and when he showed his hand, it looked like his hand was more messed up than Clottey's was. That is the thing that makes me think that the only time he attempted to cheat in his career was when he fought Mosley. I don't like Margarito though for other reasons. I'll talk about that in another thread.

And Clottey had to deal with a sprained ankle from Cotto slamming him and he still nearly beat him. So Cotto fans have no leg to stand on when they say that Margarito would've lost his fight against Clottey, when Cotto deliberately did something to hurt Clottey with a foul and still only won a controversial decision.

Sometimes if you come off to hard peepz think you are nuthugging, but yeah I wouldn't call it running. I call it strategically retreating to assert himself later...
