I wouldn't be surprised if the November fight underperformed.
Of course it will underperform on the sales and fight. Is going to be a one sided fight like the way cotto blew out alfonso gomez in cotto's favor thats one reason i won't buy the fight and with that weak undercard aside from soto but he is fighting a bum. People will want to see pbf because he is coming out of retirement and true boxing fans will buy the fans because of marquez skills with pbf and well the mexican support will be there specially since is going to be on the mexican independence weekend.

hahah...Schaffer's statement was exactly what I needed from a rough day at work...I needed a good laugh. I will say the undercards are pretty good for the fight....just means that Floyd can't sell the card by himself and they need other superstars to join....and still they will not sell as much as Pac v Cotto.

The lineup includes WBA featherweight champion Chris John (42-0-2, 22 KOs) in a rematch against Rocky Juarez (28-4-1, 20 KOs),

former WBO interim lightweight champion Michael Katsidis (25-2, 21 KOs) will try to regain that now vacant title against 2004 Olympian Vicente Escobedo (21-1, 13 KOs)

and welterweight Zab Judah (37-6, 25 KOs) faces comebacking Antonio “Toño” Diaz (46-5-1, 29 KOs).

Remind me again who those "other superstars" are? Thanks in advance.

If the Pac/Cotto card has Valero/De Marco, Soto-Casamayor and
          Karras-Gomez i think its a better card imo than Gay/Marquez, Esco/Kat, John/Juarez and Judah/Diaz.......but like i said, imo
Soto is not fighting casamayor at least for right now there were talks but its not confirmed yes valero would fight another bum again and soto will too thats a great undercard lol it aint, I like soto but i wouldn't enjoy watching him fighting a bum. And valero well everyone knows he needs to step up in comp

how can you say that when filipinos basically support one guy? No other filipino fighter is jamming arenas at all.

The only explanation for such odds that I can think of is that the bookies are factoring in the closeness and controversial nature of Cotto's win over Clottey; but if so, that's crazy because Cotto was half-blind for 9 out of 12 rounds. To still pull out the win when half blind for most of the fight, against someone as good as Clottey, is quite an achievement.

And although Pac's win over Hatton was very impressive, Hatton's game plan (if you can even call it a game plan) was pathetic that night, and Cotto is at a completely different level than Hatton was in that fight.

Cotto proved against Mosley that he can cope with very fast fighters; and Pac proved against Marquez that a fighter with very good timing can give him problems.
The odds will even out as the fight gets closer and more people get in for cotto.

I don't think that people should bash the Mayweather-Marquez fight and at the same time praise the Cotto-Pacquiao fight. I'm not a fan of Mayweather, but I think this fight will be more interesting than the Pacquiao-Cotto fight. I don't care how close Cotto's fight with Clottey was. If he fights Pacquiao the same way he did against Clottey he is getting taken out. I think Clottey is feather fisted and his punches did damage to Cotto's face. Manny might be naturally smaller, but he is a lot more powerful than Clottey is. Do you think Pacquiao would have went the distance with a Corrales that Clottey fought? I don't think so.

The reason why people shouldn't bash the Mayweather-Marquez fight and at the same time praise the one between Cotto and Pacquiao is because Pacquiao chose Cotto because he thinks he is damaged goods. And he is. I don't care which fight does better at the gate, I just think JMM and Mayweather will put up a more exciting fight than what people are anticipating. It will be competitive even if it isn't action packed.

If by interesting you mean less exciting with less evenly matched opponents than Pacquiao/Cotto, then I have no choice but to agree with you.
