I have heard people complain about the "size mismatch". I guess I don't see it. I see in Floyd a guy who is one division bigger than Marquez. That is underscored by the fact that they fought four pounds apart for FIVE YEARS (JMM @ FW from '95-'06; FMJ @ SFW from '96-01). When I look at them next to each other, Floyd looks a little bigger to me.

My guess is that marquez will be about 146-148 on fight night, and Floyd will be 148-150. I dunno if I'd call that some massive mismatch.

Actually, I think a two-year layoff is a bigger disadvantage than moving up one division. Marquez should beat a rusty Mayweather.

    What a clown!!WHAT BS!!

"That is underscored by the fact that they fought four pounds apart for FIVE YEARS (JMM @ FW from '95-'06; FMJ @ SFW from '96-01). "

    And so what???In 96 I was 11 years old and maybe 80,now I'm 24 and I'm 190.lol
    Problem buddy,we aren't in 96 or 01 but in 2009.

Fact is PBF now is a WW simply because he can't make 140 and he's fightin at 147 for many years.

Fact is Marquez is a lightweight champion simply because that's what he's...

When Marquez was still fightin at 125,PBF was already at 147.

You see what you want to see.

Lightweight vs WW=2 divisions,if there was only one division, why don't they fight at 140?

    10 pounds.....

    Mismatch.....

    End off.

He's making the guy come up 2 divisions from a division where he was small anway.

Marquez is bulking up like a fool,he will be way to slow to cope with Mayweather.

        It's a mismatch to me.

The reason this fight is a mismatch is because its Mayweather vs Marquez....has nothing to do with weight....Marquez in every aspect of fighting is inferior to Mayweather.....if they fought @ 130, 135, 140, or 147 the outcome will be the same....

                lmao@ he is making marquez

Marquez called out Mayweather, Marquez signed the contract to fight @ 147.....Marquez and his team believe that Marquez can beat Floyd...

Marquez is the P4P # 2 fighter in the sport, and if that is true then moving up to fight Mayweather wont be a problem.....stop making excuses

I'm not saying it never happens but, in Marquez-Mayweather, I just want to see a good fight.

That said, I don't think nice guy Marquez, who speaks Spanish, can really fire up boxing fans the way Mayweather will. I mean, Floyd speaking English as his first language does matter when it comes to interviews and such in places like the US, Canada, the UK - and it's all about marketability. I want the spokesmen for the sport, good or bad, back in action and selling tickets. It's just healthy.
                  +1. Well said.

and Hatton who was UNDEFEATED and had an entire country behind him never fought on PPV until he fought Mayweather...

Pacquiao vs the same Opponents Mayweather fought didnt put up the same PPV numbers.....

looks like you're delusional my friend
omg..a PBF fan to the fullest i see...Look Floyds a great boxer..but to say THE BEST without a doubt is false..homeboy failed to fight Mosley,Cotto,Rito who all chose to fight each other....PBF didnt fight the best that was available..but they did...his **** up ..not mine...to be the best u gotta beat the best..and Hatton was never the best...DLH? please..maybe a 2001 or 2002 DLH...

Mayweathers never had a global following...Hatton we all know has 20-40K people traveling to see him...DLH..needs no explanation...dont sit there saying DLH/Hatton should be thankful for those PPV buys..please dont try..the evidence is there..he couldnt sell vs baldomir..hes not selling vs marquez..see what im saying..

Bust this isnt about PPV buys to me...FLoyd continues to claim hes the best ..when he's obviously failed to fight the best..and when things started to look like he had no choice but to fight these guys..He fuuucking retires..only to come back to claim hes still the best and still not fighting a top welterweight..or anyone in his weight class...thatsa fuuccking joke to me.

So, Roy Jones was a legitimate HW? Or CW, even? Vinny Paz was a legitimate SMW? You have to take a bit of time to learn the sport. Floyd fought 85% of his career at JWW and below.

I'm sure you wish it was "end of". But you know in your heart that Floyd is a JWW-sized fighter. If Floyd is this huge, legitimate welterweight, then just name me a few smaller WW's. Thanks in advance.

It is what it is. Despite your childish insults. Mayweather is ONE weight class bigger than Marquez. Floyd moved up for money and fights... not because he was weight-drained. But i think I understand why you need to create the illusion that Floyd is this huge, scary monster.

                      Question:

Bigger size disparity: Mayweather: Margarito....or Mayweather: Marquez?
