Remember Donaire was moving up in weight.

Concepcion missed the weight by 5 pounds pretty much. I wouldnt even call that missing weight. That's pretty much saying **** the weight.

Add the rehydration weight to that and Donaire was pretty much fighting a featherweight tonight. Not only did he rock him, but he outhustled him and outworked him.

All things considered I dont think its such a bad thing.
His opponent weighed in over the Bantam limit, so he was at a pretty big disadvantage. At least he was able to hold it together and pull out the win regardless. I think this will be good for him as a fighter, he is still young, he can take this as a learning experience.

his defensive flaws surfaced...it can be corrected along the way.
good thing he's got the chin somehow, and stamina not to buckle in the late rounds.
          good overall performance....
i wonder how true and how serious is his "injured hand"...
it happened to him not just once or twice....that's bad!
he fought most his career there actually.

donaire is the little version of muhammad ali. and who says it's an ugly fight? donaire simply outboxed the heavier concepcion. donaire repulsed boxing history being the first filipino to win a title fight against a panamanian.

If there's anything good about it, it was Nonito handling the pressure well and his vast ring generalship was displayed splendidly for the world to see.

Not just because Nonito wasnt able to KO Rafael it was ugly. While this is probably the first time in a long while that Donaire didnt dominate that much, it was a good fight for him since he'll be going up in weight where competition would be tough. It was both fulfilling and a learning experience for him. Props to Concepcion for being game from the get-go.

Nonito did good fighting a foe that came so heavy and cleary bigger than him. As I always fear with Donaire he does have hand problems especially with the left. Hopefully it will heal and he doesn't change his fighting style. Wasn't a pretty fight but he overcame all the adverstity that he had in front of him.

If that was ugly, what in hell do you call Concepcion??? even after cheating, he fails to steal the big "W".
Ugly but EFFECTIVE performance. He did what he had to do to win. There's nothing wrong with it, esp. given Nonito's track record. But it was far from pretty. If you have a better adjective to use that describes the opposite of pretty, I'll be more than happy to use it.
