Cotto has a tough fight in front of him but not as a blind fan but more as a boxing follower i give the edge to Miguel Cotto.
Miguel Cotto needs to do what he already did against similar oppositions. Effectively, he already fought good southpaws(Corley, Judah) with great handspeed like Judah, and fast skilled power punchers(Mosley). Cotto's experience against good and versatile opposition will prepare him more than Pacquiao's in lower weight classes.

Pacquiao on the other hands has tremendous hand and foot speed but can't change rythms in the fight. If a fighter finds a key to give him problems and to break him, he will be able to exploit that until the end. Plus Pacquiao's power at 147 is still an unknown.

Cotto's main key won't be his size but his power punches in close quarters, especially to the body, knowing that Manny already got stopped by body punches. Cotto's powerful jab and selective punching have to be used like he did against Mosley. His timing has to nullify Pacquiao's superior speed.

Pacquiao is hard to stop when he gets into his element and comfort zone, which would be to brawl it out in the center of the ring in this case.
Cotto shouldn't fight going backwards too much in this fight though.

    Cotto 55% vs Pacquiao 45%.
I see this fight being stopped before the championship rounds with Cotto winning it by KO( body punches).
Miguel Cotto should be able to beat Manny Pacquiao IF
like you said brings in his same mentality he had for
the Zab Judah fight more so than the Demarcus Corley
fight because if he gets rocked like how Corley did him
then Pac is going to finish him. Cotto just can't be so
easy to hit. He's been busted with punches flush too
many times. would hate to see Manny land one of those
chin checkers he put on Ricky Hatton.

Why don't they just get down on their knees and offer to blow the winner?

The sanctioning bodies degrade not only the sport but also the fighters who fight for the meaningless trinkates. Manny should have never pressed for the belt at the catch weight and should have scoffed at this "Diamond" belt travesty.

I had defended the WBC because IMO it has been the belt with the most prestiege but now I realize its just as worthless as the rest of them. I just hope The Ring Belt doesnt let me down. Diamond belt.. what a joke.

Effing Ridiculous. The only one they should be fighting for is the WBO belt at 147. But I don't blame Cotto for taking this fight despite all the ****** concessions. If he beats Manny, this will catapult him into superstardom.

                  But please, enough already.

This should be a fight happening at 147 for the WBO title. Screw the WBC Diamond belt.
Funny stuff, I'd like to know how they are going to determine mandatory challengers for this crap a$$ diamond belt or is all that just thrown out the window. It seems to me that whoever wins it is going to keep it until they retire or fight at a catchweight again. Ooohhh I know, lets make mandatory catchweight title bouts and force our champions and elite fighters to fight at catchweights so this belt can change hands. WTF If the WBO belt is on the line then that's great, if not Oh well this is still going to be a huge fight. NO NEED TO START MAKING UP BELTS

but cotto is off to lose to a smarter and the best fighter of this era, manny pacquiao.
So if you were Cotto's trainer you would have him do no sparring at all and tell him to trust his style and he will win right? He is banking on his own style to win, thats why he took the fight. You gonna fault the guy for wanting to be well adjusted to a speedy fighter like Pac? Oh and Cotto is no Oscar

I like Pac and Cotto, both excellent fighters but I think Pac bit off a little more than he can chew on this one. Cotto by KO before the 10th

"The World Boxing Organization’s Regulations of World Championship Contests are intended to reconcile the interests of all necessary elements of World Championship Boxing in a manner that is in the best interests of the sport."

Just a little tidbit from the WBO's regulations and I'm sure the WBC's says the same, FUNNY HUH. It should say" The World Boxing Organization’s Regulations of World Championship Contests are intended to reconcile the interests of all necessary elements of World Championship Boxing in a manner that is going to get us the most money possible HAHA Bitches." Money hungry bastards
