If Roy goes around saying Tarver is ****, then what would that make Roy look like after losing to him twice? If he makes him sound great then he lost to a great fighter, its about Roy's self preservation.

Tarver had Roys number. Roy looked ok to me in the first fight. I think Roy would have beaten Tarver if he was 100 percent, but Tarver would have had a chance anytime.

Prime Roy Jones had problems with southpaws because prime Roy Jones was technically weak, had no jab, and used pure reflexes. Versus a tactician like Tarver with a granite chin (unlike Jones' mediocre chin) Roy always will lose. Tarver is a hall of famer in my books and no matter what Roy Jones' cheerleaders say Tarver will always own him.
Sorry but Tarver's career is very average. Minus the one lucky punch that knocked out superman.

Roy Jones in the 90's was unbeatable.

just because a boxer loses does not mean they are past their prime or any other bs excuses
RJ is way better than Tarver. Fact is RJ was in **** condition in the 1st fight, basically lookin for an excuse to lose. Tarver still couldn't get it done. 2nd fight speaks for itself. He KO'd his ass proper. Like he said, no excuses. 3rd fight, RJ didn't even wanna be there. Not Tarver's fault. But RJ at his peak beats Tarver at his peak imo. Too much speed for a methodical boxer-puncher like Tarver.

Roy beats him prime for prime, but no way in hell would it be one sided shut out. Tarver had the style to bother any Roy.

Cosign homey. I wouldn't go so far as sayin RJ stops him, but he wins a clear decision in a tough fight.

Roy looked fine to you? Before then, had you ever seen Roy looked winded and fighting on heart? NO. I will make one point. When Roy came down in weight it showed and everybody thought it was an excuse. After Tarver had to lose his Rocky 6 weight, what happened. He looked terrible. No disrespect to Hopkins, but you could tell something was up. So maybe weight drain could be a factor. I'm just saying though. Anyway, Prime Roy had the talent to beat just about anyone. If anyone watched a prime Roy, they will know he would let his hands go in 5-8 punch combinations. It wasn't that unsual. He could've fought better opposition. That's the only knock I can see against him. He wasn't superman, but the he had gifts that most don't have. A prime Roy had the talent, skill, athleticism to beat just about anyone. Tarver would've posed a threat but would have never beat a prime Roy, no damn way.
