In the 1st fight a newly past his prime Roy clearly outpointed a fresh Tarver in what was a competitive fight. Maybe this was the only reason he even got a rematch, because who else had even tested and made a competitive fight ith Roy up until that point? Prime Roy doesn't even get tested by the very best version of Tarver.
tarver can not **** with a prime roy

2 OUT OF 3 and a stone cold roy pooping his drawers while staring at the ceiling waiting for the ambulance to come while getting his world rocked , is what happened.
Just because you dislike Tarver doesn't mean you can deny history.
Tarver won two out of three and damn near three out of three, no matter how you slice it.
Facts are: TARVER GOT THAT ASS.
(And nothing can change that, not even your dreams or your fantasy what if scenarios)Comment

ALL you have to do is listen to Roy Jones himself on this subject where he admitted Tarver would always be hell for him because of his style. In the 1st fight a newly past his prime Roy clearly outpointed a fresh Tarver in what was a competitive fight. Tarver's whole career is built off of one perfect, eyes closed, swinging for the fences, prayer of a punch. It even got him a role in the worst Rocky movie. He will always be remembered as the guy that knocked out Roy Jones, but won't be remembered for anything else. His career is really not that great. He has wins over a past prime Roy Jones, Eric Harding, Montell Griffin, and Glen Johnson. At the same time he lost to Eric Harding, Glen Johnson, got destroyed by Bernard Hopkins, was beat thoroughly by Chad Dawson, and was outpointed clearly by a weight drained Roy Jones. I think it bothers him that people don't give him more respect, but his career is not that great. I give him credit for beating superman, but if it was before the Ruiz fight the outcome would have been different.Comment

Tarver was getting abused in the middle of the ring. Roy was scoring without a problem. The only time Tarver did work was when roy put himself on the ropes, i didn't know why he did that anyway. It wasn't like tarver was pressing him, tarver just kept stepping in as roy stepped back.Comment

Roy was so weight drained he had no choice but to lay on the ropes. Tarver stole rounds while Roy was resting.Comment

Bull****. Tarver had a great career. He was the king at 175 until he fought Hopkins, and the king of rematches until the recent Dawson fight. He always had the balls to fight anybody, and he beats the **** out of Roy Jones prime or not. Prime Roy Jones had problems with southpaws because prime Roy Jones was technically weak, had no jab, and used pure reflexes. Versus a tactician like Tarver with a granite chin (unlike Jones' mediocre chin) Roy always will lose. Tarver is a hall of famer in my books and no matter what Roy Jones' cheerleaders say Tarver will always own him.Tarver's whole career is built off of one perfect, eyes closed, swinging for the fences, prayer of a punch. "Prime" Roy Jones beat up part time cops, fire fighters, paramedics, cab drivers and whoever else the city would volunteer. His biggest wins are against an inexperienced Hopkins (that he would never fight again) and James Toney. Ruiz? Come on.Bull****. Tarver had a great career.
