Don't necessarily agree that JMM is slower than Cotto (definately not in foot speed) but your observation is kinda right. Timing and accuracy can trump speed, however JMM has better of both than Cotto IMO and Cotto's style is made for Pac's.

Let's not forget Cotto was able to take Shane's speed away with his timing. He also surprised Shane at just how fast he is himself and does not throwing power puff girl punches with his speed. Cotto hits with force. Just look at his opponent's faces after their bouts with him.

Your opinion is dead wrong Marquez is slower than Cotto and I like to know how is Cotto style made for Pac. Cotto can cut the ring, he has underated defense and his timing is perfect for Pac styles. Cotto vs Pac will be like Marquez vs Pac only Cotto's power will make much more of a difference.

I don't think Cotto's style is made for Pac at all, but a lot does depend on him having the right game plan. He had the wrong gameplan against Marg, and although there is a big asterix against that win because of the plaster against Mosley, it was still the wrong game plan. But IMO Cotto is one of the most accurate punchers in the game today, and his speed is underrated.

And judging him negatively on his performance against Clottey, as some posters in this thread are doing - when he was half-blind for three quarters of the fight and therefore couldn't judge distance - is crazy. Clottey is hugely under-rated by many people, IMO; and in the circumstances, with that cut, that was a great win.

As far as game plans are concerned, though, Pac does have the advantage of having an ATG trainer.
