ENTIRELY TOO MUCH SPEED....
I've tried to break this fight down and really the only advantage I can see that Cotto has over Pac is power. And even Cotto's advantage in power is pretty much null considering his very slight advantage in power doesn't make up for his huuge disadvantage in speed. Cotto couldn't remain elusive to Margarito when they fought, it would just be target practice for Manny. Cotto has decent boxing skills but he can't handle sustained pressure for 12 rounds, much less even last with anything in the tank for 12 rounds. Not only that, Pac is the more skilled technician too. Even Pac's counterpunching is better. As much as I love Cotto, I really can't find much upside for him in this one.
