I'll add that Miguel Cotto's last few opponents have been very durable. Mosley, Margarito and Clottey are three of the most rock-bearded dudes in the division, and the sport. Miguel Cotto is definitely being overlooked here.

I agree but I also think Cotto is quick. Throws counters very well and can get in his shots and move. His problem is his defense, not his speed - it's why he got beat by a slower man in Margarito and not a faster one in Mosley.

Against Manny Pacquiao, his problem will be speed. I'm telling you... watch a recent Cotto fight side by side with a recent Manny fight on your PC and you will see the clear difference in speed.

I've tried to break this fight down and really the only advantage I can see that Cotto has over Pac is power. And even Cotto's advantage in power is pretty much null considering his very slight advantage in power doesn't make up for his huuge disadvantage in speed. Cotto couldn't remain elusive to Margarito when they fought, it would just be target practice for Manny. Cotto has decent boxing skills but he can't handle sustained pressure for 12 rounds, much less even last with anything in the tank for 12 rounds. Not only that, Pac is the more skilled technician too. Even Pac's counterpunching is better. As much as I love Cotto, I really can't find much upside for him in this one.

I think you're neglecting one important point: Pac's chin is still not tested above 135 pounds. The biggest fear I have as a Pac fan is him getting caught flush and the fight being over in an instant.

Pac's been in there with the best fighters on the planet, HOF bound fighters in JMM, MAB, Morales, Oscar and Ricky not to mention the slew of other very good fighters he's run through over the years. Manny will be fine unless he gets to wreckless in there. Both fighters must respect each others power. But the speed will bother Cotto.
