The fab four era would be the toughest era for him but I think he could make his name shine in lights like the others.

Mayweather is a great fighter, but a rather unproven commodity at 147. He hasn't proven himself in THIS era, which is decent, but not as strong as some others. I can't just shoe him in because of his skills at 130 and 35.

Margarito's style is simple. Keep comming forward, keep throwing punches. When you have a chin like him, the chances for him not to succeed is slim. He applies relentless pressure, has leverage because he is taller than the field (even the fab four era, he is tall). He has a plateau of power, hitting you as hard just as hard in the 12th round as he did in the 1st. Where everyone else is tired and worn down, he is still treking forward with no drop in punch volume.
Tough fighter but limited. Can't agree with you on this when he was exposed by an old Mosely, and in devastating fashion.

Williams is basically the same as Margarito. With the exception that he isn't just personality, he gots the looks too. He can take damage, keep comming and keeps throwing punches. The difference with him is that he has speed, footwork, and brains. He knows how to move out of the way, unlike Margarito. He has the footwork too keep up with guys who like to move away. And has the IQ to hit you in an educated way (not obvious combos). A plus is that he is what? 6'3"? Hearns would even have trouble with Williams(William's 82 vs Hearns 78 reach).

I really like this guy and wish nothing but the best for him. But he is another unproven commodity. I think its a leap of faith at best to compare him right now to all time great fighters. He's done nothing to justify it.

These guys could survive any era. In short. Mayweather has the brains for every era. Margarito have the toughness, Stamina, work rate mixture for every era. Williams has a freak physical advantage and the same attributes as Marg + speed, footwork, and brains for every era.

They're all good fighters, but their negatives can be accentuated as much as their positives. Sure, they'd be solid to excellent fighters in many era's based on the things you've described, but I wouldn';t go as far as to say the transend the 147lb division. Peace.

You make a strong point(really hard to even argue against it, lol) but everyone has negatives.

Margarito and Williams... c'mon. Those guys are your classic styles. Mosley had experience on his side, he knew how to deal with guys like Margarito. Back then, people didn't do the punch-hug as much as they do now. Which is why we praise those guys back then so much, they were warriors and willing to fight. Because of that, I see Margarito and Williams being able to survive and probably over shadow many guys.

Mayweather I think he would have trouble with alot of people because of his size but I think he could get key wins that would allow him to become a highly talked about fighter. Take Duran for example, he quit in the Leonard fight because Leonard wouldn't engage with him. How would he handle Mayweather then? Mayweather does more avoiding in a fight than SRL did.

At 147 in all eras, I think Mayweather has issues because of his size. Alot of guys back then were big and if not then way faster than Mayweather(SRL, Whitaker). He probably would do better in 130-135 divisions. But I think he could edge out some dudes from back then, he would be able to get the decision.
