Team pacquiao seem very keen to have a title on the line. But, i dont see what the big deal is, with or without a title on the line, it's still going to tbe the biggest fight of the year. A title adds nothing to the stakes except a chance for pacquio to win another title at a new weight. But, who actually gives a ****?

Too many belts.

The WBC's "Diamond Belt" is a direct response to the the WBA's "Super Champion" concept. Pretty soon we'll have more belts than venues to challenge them in, or elite fighters to compete for them. Boxing was always a business of number$ and the WBO, WBC, WBA, IBF, et al survive on exorbitant sanctioning fees. Introduction of new organizations and/or belts further devalues the individual titles, accomplishments and respective champions. Just my opinion.

I agree to an extent, still feel this catchweight drama is bull. If cotto wants to come in at 147 and pacman at 141 or 145, why should manny object. Let each fighter come in between 141-147. Agree?

Totally agree. That's what i meant in the first place with this new BS title. There is no "catchweight" with this Diamond title, so why is everyone still bitching about it. The only obvious advantage for Manny with this, is that he doesn't have to deal with Cotto's stipulation with the weight, which is very valid BTW from Cotto's point of view. And more importantly we can finally get this fight going with a title on the line. Agreed.

Yep, for manny to beat cotto at cotto's best(147) will make pacquiao's win even bigger. Why would you want to fight another fighter when they are not at their best. If pacquiao's best is 143 and cotto's best is 147 then the winner just beat his opponent at his best....no excuses unless we get blind judges or corruption.
