As an addition to the team, why not. I don't think it'll matter either way though.

I have the feeling Cotto will try jumping on Pac early.

To me, this is a can't lose situation for Cotto. He should hire Emanuel. Even if it's just to help out, he doesn't have to be his cornerman. Cotto is a very loyal person though and I don't know if he would push Santiago or anyone else to the side.

I say Yes, Cotto should hire Steward. What does he have to lose?

Definitely on the paid part. But also, I'm sure being on 24/7 wouldn't hurt his popularity seeing as how people treat Roach and I'm sure Steward feels like he wants alil of that stardom.

Or it can. How much would Steward try changing on Cotto right before the biggest fight of his career? Can it be a good thing? Bad thing? I believe Steward has the ideas on how to beat Pacquaio no doubt, but can he get them into Cotto without causing a bad shift in Cotto's style or movement that could hurt him for this particular fight?

I think Cotto has gone too far now for anyone to be able to come in and change his style so I think it surely can't hurt for Emanuel to come in and add his 2 cents into the gameplan cos at the moment the only thing that worries me about this fight is that Manny has a great team whereas Cotto has an unproven trainer in Santiago and Cotto really needs to pull his finger out and put a world class training camp together in order to win this fight cos Bob Arum ain't gonna help him out, it's in Top Ranks best interests if Pacquiao wins the fight as Manny is the cash cow, not Miguel.

Not sure about the 1st paragraph but it makes sense!!!!

Tottaly agree on the 2nd one.

I beleive Stewart will bring a lot to Cotto but not overnight (next fight) delivery. It will have to be a learning process that can probably show after his 2nd and 3rd fight together. However Emanuell is a good defensive trainer and tells you the truth on how he sees the fight. He wont tell what the fighter wants to hear and that's always good reality check. He could probably work with Cotto in traing camp but not at the corner during the fight just to test waters and see how deep they want to go.

cotto is his own man. if he thinks hiring steward would help him, then he should go. but to do so is to sacrifice his own trainer and his own fighting style for years. hiring another trainer for cotto will likely produced not good result. consider this, steward has his own styles. i don't think cotto may easily adopt to steward's style while cotto has also his own style he used to.

for example, steward is open to a style where the left hand is low. this is to confuse the opponent. in short, the left jaw is not all protected with the left hand, like the fighting style of hearns, leonard, ali or holmes. in that style, the left hand which is hanging is ready for a jab. however, cotto is used to have his guard up. if this happen, it would be disaster for cotto because he would be adjusting to a style very unfamiliar to him.

but hiring steward may also has some good points because the night after the fight, cotto will find an excuse for losing to pacquiao. his excuse is that he is confused by steward's instructions.

he might as well hire ugly old floyd to complete his team.

STEWARD is not trainer for COTTO.

STEWARD always wants to change your style.

For COTTO only good trainer is FREDDIE ROACH.
Maybe he will hire him after PACMAN knocks him out cold!

                      WARRRRRRRRR PACMAN
