I think hiring Manny Steward will help Cotto!!!
At least he will have no excuse that his trainer is not good if he losses to Pac!

Their styles are different, I'm not sure if it would work out. Steward has historically done his best work with the tall lanky types, not the short stocky type like Cotto.

Honestly, these statements from Steward reek of jealousy regarding trainers' egos. It's almost as if he needs to show everybody he's still the top trainer like with Lennox Lewis--to upstage Roach.

And why the hell do people keep saying Cotto is the underdog?--because the casual fans in Kobe Bryant, Mikey Rourke, and indviduals who first laid eyes on Pacquiao in the Delahoya fight say so? Pacquiao is the underdog not the other way around.

He seems pretty observant noticing Cotto's flaws. Some might remember him saying in the Judah fight that he was leaping in his with jab and that he would get caught doing that...and a few seconds later he did. Maybe he could be useful...

There were rumors that Cotto would hire Steward to work his corner. To date, nobody has contacted Steward from Cotto's camp. [details]
I voted no because there might be some communication problems which would delay the training. Unless Steward knows how to speak Spanish.

I was just about to mention that fight. Steward knows his boxing. I think he can be a great asset added to the camp, and its still early.

Who knows.. It might just happen. I hope it does.

cotto don't need manny first of all manny is lil over cooked as a trainer or over the hill and manny just want a pay day cause every cotto fight he has done in the past he just trashes him. At the end of the clottey fight he said some good things but it was like hbo higher ups pushed him into saying it cause he just had a grin on his face while saying it. I say f manny and have him go train vivian harris again lol

Never been a fan of emanuel steward, I just think he has often been blessed with extremely talented fighters. I don't see him as some great trainer. He didn't do much for naseem hamed and jermain taylor. Infact he actually took them backwards

You obviously haven't seen the betting odds cos according to them Cotto is the underdog, nearly as much so as Hatton was.

                      AFRAID????? DID YOU SAY AFRAID???????

Why because Cotto has accpeted the smaller purse to fight Pacman???
Why because Cotto has agreed to fight in Vegas????
Why because Cotto has agreed to fight with 8oz gloves like Pacman requested???
Why becuase Cotto has agreed to fight at a Catchweight???
Why because he is even givning Pacquaio a 2nd option if he wants the title, to fight for it at 147??

AFRAID ????? DID YOU SAY AFRAID???????

Haven't you yet realized that the one changing the pre-agreement established and presented to both boxers is Pacquiao not Cotto. Cotto has stick to his words and the initial agreement, while giving Pacquaio an option on a issue not discussed during the agreement. He is telling him lets stick to the agreement on which we both agreed to (145 max no title) or lets fight at 147 max. for the title. This doesn't sound like a person that's afraid.

AFRAID ????? DID YOU SAY AFRAID??????????????
