And it's obvious the reason Verno has fought to this age is because he took care of himself.
Taking good care of himself and been way past his prime are two different things. Verno can only hope Q repeats the same dumb strategy as in Williams 2, and that he can catch and KO Q. Other than that, is a mismatch.

      I disagree.

Quintana has been plagued by injuries and he might be past his prime.

Verno is a good boxer who knows to use the ring and with good timing. He can beat Quintana.

But Quintana would have to be favored.

Willing to bet on that if fight happens?

          Bet on what?

I'm going for Quintana to win the fight.

I'm just saying it won't be a mismatch.

Again, Quintana has skills but he isnt all that and no spring chicken himself. Verno is a four time World Champ. I highly doubt Carlos will ever reach that status. With that being said, how can Verno be considered such a huge underdog? Even if he is shot, this still is no mismatch. And if he isnt shot, and has anything left in the tank after the Williams fight, then I think you guys are right and it could turn into a mismatch, yet in Verno's favor.

I think too much is being made off that fluke win. Phillips should prevail in this battle of Williams victims.
i think that beating a seemingly unbeatable fighter for an easily scorable 12 rounds is alot more impressive than hitting a guy with one clean **** and ending his night before it even starts

the fluke win is the 2nd fight

im not saying williams wont win the trilogy becasue he probably will but quintanas win is much more telling

Will Verno Phillips be using a cane to get in the ring? As for Quintana, so much talent, so little punching power. I wonder why his handler never worked on that flaw? Not to make him a KO artist, but to at least prevent his opponent from walking through his punches.

Tough one to pick, I'd go with Quintana because he's younger and has the southpaw edge. Verno Phillips is all balls but it's hard to gauge what he has left since he quit on his stool with Paul Williams.
