Anyone trying to discredit Bernard Hopkins as not a great fighter, or not a great resume should not be taken seriously.

I think Hopkins resume gets overrated by some and underrated by others.

Both are great fighters. Had both fought each others in their absolute primes (around 1999) I would pick Roy Jones to win a very very close fight 7-5.

Roy Jones Jr was the better boxer during the 1990's, as well as the most dominant. It's weird but during the 2000's Roy lost it and Hopkins become more impressive and more dominant.

Maybe the better boxer, that doesnt make him the better fighter prime for prime though

RJJ made a career out of fighting nobody. Bernard made a career out of fighting ugly and barely winning (and losing for that matter). Skill wise and ring smarts, Bernard was better. RJJ was a better athlete who IMO could have been MUCH better if he wasn't such an ego-maniac.

Roy was better in his prime.

Hopkins is a great fighter though and i feel that a prime for prime matchup between the two would be alot closer than what most people here believe.

Some posters around here make out Roy to be unbeatable when that isn't true, Hopkins would of caused him trouble.
