Why doesn't Guillermo Jones need to defend his title?

No, he hasn't been scheduled for a fight since Sep 2008.

It seems Don King put him on the shelf and forgot about him.

Clearly a year is entirely too long for a sitting champion to just be sitting. Doesn't DK realize from a business sense it is not smart because ppl forget about a fighter they haven't seen in awhile and also being inactive affects a fighters performance. A bad performance effects a fighters marketability and thus ability to get meaningful fights. I don't see how it benefits Don King to keep his WBA champs inactive.

I wouldn't put it past Don King. I mean this is the guy who tried to lure a way way past his prime Trinidad back into a rematch with Hopkins not long ago, real slimeball.

Age 23 heavyweight Mario Preskar signed with King, and was just kept inactive for over a year. He's now age 25 and doesn't look nearly as good as before.

Inactivity ruins fighters. Sometime with older ones who have had many fights, a year's rest can be a good thing, but for up-and-coming fighters it the worst mistake a promoter can make.

But Don King is rich, and he doesn't care about anybody except himself.

Given this, why the *** do people keep on signing with King? I just don't get it. Stay away from the man!

I don't think it's fair when a promoter (Don King) holds a title hostage.

There's LOTS of cruiserweights who deserve a title shot: Frenkel, Ross, Brudov, Masternak, Alexeev, Flores, Drozd, Lebedev, etc.

One of these should be allowed a title shot.

Surely Jones could've tried to get a fight with WBO champ Marco Huck. Huck is a big draw in Germany and the promoters could bill it as a unification bout..
