If the way the tempo the fight was going prior to the cut was any indication it would be a had fight none the less. The did make Cotto have to retreat more than he may have liked but I think even if this wasn't the case it would have been a tough fight. I hope Arum does something with Clottey and I have the feeling he will pull and upset if he gets another chance.
I think the fight would have played out a little differently without the cut. I think Clottey would have gave him the same issues he did, but I think Cotto would not have looked so bad in the midde part of the fight. I think Clottey still would have collapsed down the streach and without the poor showing in the middle rounds by Cotto the fight would not have been close at all (IMO).

It was a test though no doubt one that was needed to see what Cotto had in him after the Margarito fight, but to me it was a test designed for him to pass atleast if he was still near his best.

I hope Arum does do something for Clottey sooner rather then later because he does deserve another shot. To me though Clottey is a high end gatekeeper, if he fights someone worldclass he will usually lose but if he fights someone not quite worldclass or someone not quite on their A game he will probably win.

How would Mosley Clottey play out? If Mosley looks like he did against Mayorga then Clottey may have a shot.

I think Mosley would beat Clottey but that is probably the guy that Clottey has the best chance against considereing how Shane fights. To me Clottey struggles when guys can bring it for 12 whole rounds and Mosley more or less likes to pick his spots. I would still favor Mosley to win though because Clottey seems to do just enough to win rounds and is content with that never really pressing home his advantages. Add to that the fact the almost like clockwork he slows down the last third of the fight.

It would be an interesting fight one that either guy could win but I think Shane would win an otherwise even fight in the championship rounds. it is hard to explain but to me Clottey just does not have "it" to really take it to the next level to beat fighters like that in close fights.

I hope it happens. I thinks its a pick em fight. don't think Clottey will let up in the late rounds going forward. I met him a week after the Cotto fight and he seemed like it still bothered him (even though he was very polite). The guy is still hungry IMO and I think he will take more risk because of it

              Add on:

To be a Supporter of Mayweather means you have to be negative about Pac and vice versa:

This is the thing I really don't get. If you are a fan of either guy it ****** to bash the other just because they may fight. If anything you should want to build up possible opponents because it makes your fighter look better when your guy wins. If you say someone is overrated or a hypejob, and you favorite fighter beats that guy it doesn't say much according to your criticism. As much as I hope the fight does happen I also realize that it depends a lot on what happens on Nov 14th and feel any combination of Floyd/Cotto/Pac/Mosley would be a good thing. Unfortunately boxers on these message boards are treated like Politian's. Supporters of fighters come on here and ignore any type of common scenes or facts to pursue an agenda for the guy the like. Part of it is political mug slinging. I like fighter A so I have to make negative threads about fighter B to help prove my guy is better. Nonsense. Let's talk boxing. You think the guy you like beats the guy I like so let s talk about how the fight plays out. Maybe you are right. Maybe I am right. Maybe we both are wrong. Maybe the fight never happens. Either way it's better than the politics that run the board at the moment.

another misconception that is a fighter is taller than another fighter he is AUTOMATICALLY BIGGER than that fighter. size in boxing is based on WEIGHT and not height. Thus, we have weight classes..no height and reach classes...

also, if a young fighter loses a fight that DOES NOT MEAN that he is OVERRATED...

when I think of more, I will post them.

In "my" opinion he is a boring fighter.
