how was he supposed to fight cotto, then retire, when cotto had a matchup w/ margarito slated for the next month?

was he supposed to fight cotto, after he got his ass whooped? **** outta here with that....the BIGGEST misconception on here is that floyd somehow has/is ducking/ducked miguel cotto.....makes no sense.

Yea I have asked the question multiple times, when did they even try to fight each other. If niether side is seeking out negotiations, it is hard to really be avoiding them. Also back then Floyd was the man at the time, it is not on the champ to seek out challengers, IMO challengers should seek out the champ.

not only that......dude was fresh off a 30 million dollar payday w/ oscar, and a 20 million dollar payday with hatton, and was preparing for another 20 million + payday for the rematch w/ oscar......the negotiations fell through, and dude looked around at the landscape, and was like, "who else is gonna bring me the kind of money i just made???"

let's just say for instance, and fantasize cotto was an available option, after the oscar rematch fell through.......what was cotto's biggest payday at that time? 3-4 million?

like you said, dude was the man at the time, and i don't give a **** who you are or what you do, or how much you make, its gonna be hard to get yourself up to go to work knowing you'll be making HALF of what you been pulling in....

Floyd never ducked Cotto. But a fight between them at around that time would have been a great legacy fight for Floyd. I hope it happens still.

i'd love to see it too.

but like everyone else who wants it, we will NEVER get it if cotto loses to pacman....this is pretty much the most important fight of cotto's career...

It could have happeaned but Floyd retired with the Oscar fight looming, not after that fight took place so I fail to see how any fighter really played into his decision to hang em up at that time, if he fought Oscar a second time people would IMO have a stronger argument but there was no way Floyd would retire with a huge money fight for some guys he is not even thinking about fighting in his next fight.

People act like Arum does not owe Floyd a bunch of money and there is not litigation going on between them, I don't care how big a fight is if you need to work with someone who owes you a mint it is going to be really hard to come to terms.

The fight did not come off but just because a fight does not come together does that mean one guy is ducking. It would have been an intereting fight it is a shame factors played in to it not happeaneing but maybe it can happean in the future.

You don't think Arum might put one of his fighters in an unfavorable match up if the money is right? I do.
