If Pac walks away because the belt is on the line, who do you see as being afraid? Answer does questions instead of posting a tangential response.
There isn't a 145lbs weight class. We all know this. Thanks for clearing that up.

But as stated several times, a welterweight bout can take place anywhere from 142-147lbs.

As for who has an issue with the title not being on the line ?

Of course its Team Pacquiao. Why wouldn't they want to become the first fighter in boxing history to earn 7 division titles.

    That's history right there.

If its a fight that's already going to happen anyways, why not raise the stakes?

If Team Pacquiao walks away from the fight because the belt was not on the line, Cotto is to blame. As I've stated before, Cotto is playing the B-side in this fight. You agree to the terms, or go on with your career and fight the Andre Bertos of the world.

That's how it is when you play second fiddle.

The more your stature grows, the more you are able to demand. Its business.

JMM and Pacquiao are virtually the same size and stature. They are both reaching out of their 'radius' not one more than the other.

Pacquiao has only had 2 fights about 135. So what's this discrepancy you speak of in how far each of them is 'reaching out beyond their radius'?

Welterweights champs are pronounced at 147 reffering to cotto/pac.

Jmm has never fought at WW.EVER.He's the smallet guy in ww division currently. It's true come fight night he weighs as much as a JR ww but hasnt tasted ww opponents like pac.Pac's been there/done that at 147.Why should 2 lbs make the difference when you have jmm going out of range in weight?

Cotto/pac are NOT even that far apart speaking length size.ITS ALL ABOUT WEAKINING ANOTHER MAN.

Lol. Ridiculous. I'll break it down again: If they want to be the first fighter in history to win belts in seven different divisions then do....it....right! You talk of raising the stakes? Ok. Right back at you. Fight at 147. That's stakes right there. No? But since that is not going to happen then Pac is going to have to resign himself to just fighting one of the best at 145 and win millions in the process. If that's not good enough, so be it. Cotto has done very nicely for himself moneywise so you are not going to play him like PBF is playing Juan Manuel Marquez, he of the 350k fight with Chris John.

Read my post above and you'll see why Cotto has to sacrifice things in this fight.

Pac fought De La Hoya, who according to the boxing experts posting on this site, was weight drained, dehydrated, shot, a zombie, a walking corpse, and had no chance.

That was his lone fight above 140 pounds, and his first of only 2 above 135, where again, he only had one fight.

Pacquiao and Marquez are both natural lightweights, by stature. So its only a testament to both of their skills and abilities that they are able to move up and still be effective.

Who said 145 is a weight class? It's a figment of Coittous imagination! people are saying 145 is still legally within the WW division. what the big deal with belt?? Don't you think the fight would be more interesting if the belt is on the line, it's like adding ****e to it.....sweeten the pot......adding motivation on both fighters etc.

Pac afraid??? LOL he was the one who asked arum to make the fight. A blown up midget challenging a WW champ...yeah right Pac is sooo afraid.

If Coittous is willing to give up the belt in the first place, why hold up the fight and just put it on the line. If the diva queen is soooo confident of beating the midget what is the issue of not risking the belt? he can defend it if he's so confident.

Unfortunately, Cotto is not in a position to raise the stakes, so the fight will take place at a neutral weight (Pac is the champion at 140 pounds)

So the catch weight is fair, in that Pacquiao is moving up 5 pounds, and Cotto is only dropping two.

And believe me, no one is going to look back and say that the 2 pound cut for Cotto cost him the fight, if he loses.

Wait, pac tasted WW opponents?!? Who?? The De Lay Hoya punching bag?!? How can you discredit his win against DLH but at the same time claim he's tested @ WW?

Man you are so misinformed. Cotto is not holding anything up. He'll be there and he'll give up the belt if they force him to put it on the line. But he will be there. Will pac? I repeat, COTTO IS NOT HOLDING IT UP. Check the original piece, its Roach and Pac's lawyer. Cotto starts training monday. When will Pac show up in the Ba*****?

FOR THE LAST TIME: IF YOU WANT TO RAISE THE STAKES WHY NOT GO UP TO 147? ANSWER THIS OR ITS NOT EVEN WORTH IT TO KEEP TALKING TO YOU.

I don't see how Pac and Cotto fans win by missing out on a great fight...over 2 ****** pounds or a WBO strap.
yup its principles ww limit is 147 the champ should be allowed to show up at the limit of his weight class and cotto hold your ground and for those that think cotto is broke he is a millionaire and i guess to him money isnt everything but principles are
