Roach: "Pacquiao Doesn't Need Cotto Without The Belt"

I'm still clueless as to people see Cotto being in the wrong here. He signed the contract for 145 no title, but then Roach/Pac or some dumbass says the title has to be on the line after Cotto signed the contract. Roach then says he wants Manny to fight for something... well what exactly did you fight for in the DLH fight? Legacy? Money? Both probably and the same will happen if he beats Cotto, as it will put all aside any "but's" that came after Manny's wins over DLH and Hatton. Instead, we have this garbage and people seem to think fighting for title within its entire weight limit is somehow "wrong" or being a *****.

I'm sorry, but Cotto never said he wouldn't fight Paq, he just has two stipulations. 147 for the title or 145 without, its not that difficult. Isn't Paq getting more money, didn't he ask for and GOT a catchweight, he also picked the date and he also picked the place which, to be fair, should be in Las Vegas and nowhere else. Point is the division is 141-147, so Manny can come in at 145 if he wants, but Cotto should be allowed to come in at 147 if the title is on the line. I think the problem is that Roach thinks Manny is the bigger draw, which may be true, however, Cotto is more than likely the second biggest draw in boxing right now and he knows it and won't be pushed around.

the 145 catchweight was put in as to put on somewhat of a speed bump as to how much cotto rehydrates.

vs otkay urkal he rehydrated to 159 FREAKING POUNDS. That was 2007 when he was fresher & younger. How much do you think he rehydrates now that he's 2 years older & more miles on the odometer?

Cotto not wanting to put up the title, IMO is more of him wanting more money or have them pay the sanc fees. It doesnt really make sense for him not to put up the title when the fight is under welterweight.

just look at his choices, wbo has already made it clear they want the title to be on the line. it wont be up to cotto. his only choice is whether or not he pays the sanc fees or not.

Cotto has no play here. he moving down 1 pound the bigger guy, pac the smaller guy moving up 5 pounds.

Cotto will have to concede eventually if he wants the pac fight.

How can you not see that just because it falls under the WW division doesn't mean its title worthy? What if the agreed to 141 should the title be on the line then? If you start limiting how much a fighter can weigh within a division then ask them to defend the belt is just wrong, period. That is exactly what Manny is doing. "I want to fight you, but only if you weigh 145 AND you put the title on the line, we'll just act like the two other pounds in the division don't exist." The problem is that Manny never mentioned the belt prior to Cotto signing the contract that is just foul business. That would be like you buying a house, then the person who sold it to you saying BTW you'll only get it now if you give us double the down payment.

Cotto signed his already they are waiting on Manny which is why Cotto is pissed. He agreed to something, and after he agreed in writing with his Manny/Roach or whoever is pulling this ****.

As for Cotto being the second biggest draw, he is. We can bring up Mayweather, and even Paq in this conversation and not counting the fights in which THEY were the B side (Hatton/DLH) none of them have had more buys than Cotto. Cotto landed 500k with Margartio the closest Mayweather or Paq have gotten no counting DLH/Hatton was 400k.

I agree. There is no sign contract, that's why Pacman's team is trying to change the pre-aprroval (verbal) agreement and remember this is not the first time that this happens with pacman's team. They did the same thing to Hatton and DLH.
