Pacman's team has the chance to erase all the source of criticism that will rightfully fall upon them if Manny beats a 145 lbs Cotto by taking the fight at 147 for the title, and they're too stubborn to do it. Idiotic. Those catchweights will hurt Manny's legacy forever. I fully support Miguel's logic. If Manny want the title, he should fight at the true weight.

This is true.


Pacquiao can fight anyone in the world. He's giving Cotto a chance to make more money than he has in any fight of his life.

Advantage is already for Cotto being that he's only 2 pounds under a weight that he makes very comfortably, as was seen by his 146lbs. weigh in, in his last fight against Clottey.


Cotto is fighting an uphill battle here, IMO. He doesn't have anyone else to fight that will make him anywhere near the amount of money, or anywhere near the amount of exposure and notariety that this fight will give him.


Cotto is a star right now in PR and NY, but is a virtual unknown on the West Coast outside of hardcore boxing fans.

This fight will change that for him, whether he wins or loses.

He needs to do whatever it takes to make this fight happen. His mystique that he carried as an undefeated fighter is gone, and he is looking more human in every fight.

Not if Cotto says 'no fight' if they demand for the title at the catchweight.

Pac is actually the one who gets left out in the cold. He would have to either opt for Mosley (who could ruin a Pac/Floyd mega fight) or wait after Mayweather and Marquez goes down (leaving Pac without a big fight lined up until next year).
