Margarito is a whirlwind. And let's not forget Paul had a pretty big 12th. Plus, he finished far stronger than Winky down the stretch. Speaking of Winky - like Pavlik - PW is catching him at the right time. There were rumors that Winky was bringing up girl after girl into his hotel room days before the fight and spending lots of time in the casinos. Pavlik prefers the bar. We'll see whether his bad habits come back to bite him against a volume fighter like PW.

Personally I don't want to see this fight at the moment. I'd like to see Paul fight a fight or two against some ranked middles. And I'd like to see Pavlik fight once or twice too. Just to build up some hype.

You can't really look at it like that because Williams has dominated
from 147/154/160. Williams is a better skilled fighter than Pavlik.
Kelly may have an edge in power but that's about it and Williams
when he sits on his punches can bring some pop to the table as
well. All Williams would have to do is not fight Pavlik's fight and
he will win.

I'm telling you. They need to each get a percentage of everything
even if it is not down the middle because like I said on another thread
they both need each other at this point BUT Paul Williams has a more
promising position with HBO AND could just land a fight with Sergei,
beat him and become champion at 154 and really build his stats up.
Bob Arum needs to budge a little and stop trying to be unrealistic.
If I represented Williams I wouldn't stand for him not getting a piece
of the gate OR sponsorship? That a few MILLION right there. I think
HBO is going to put the pressure on both sides but mostly on Arum to
make this happen. The deal don't have to be 50/50, it could be 55/45.
Apparently HBO is not interested in Pavlik as much as Williams so that's
a big edge in favor of Goosen.

cosign. HBO is offering about 4, plus 3 more from the gate and sponsors, that's about 7 mill right there. 2.5 PW, 4 Pavlik, and 500,000 for TOP Rank seems fair to me.

the key is, and i'm glad it was pointed out, that williams has an HBO date where he'll make a nice purse, maybe not 2 mill, but he has a date....who the hell is pavlik gonna fight at this point to even come close to the 4million he could get in this fight???

No matter, name 3 quality opponents that Pavlik beat? The only
fighters he has on his resume to date is Edison Miranda & Jermain
Taylor. Paul williams scored KO's in 3 different divisions and
Unanimously beat a seasoned veteran with the tightest defense
that hasn't been decisively beat in YEARS! Your acting like Kelly
Pavlik has a super resume? He hasn't even fought the best in his
