The problem with that is that Williams draws absolutely no fans to his fights, but he still deserves a slice of it because of the fight itself. I'd say about maybe 35%. The Arum position is totally against giving Williams 1% of the gate. And I explained toward the top of this post why Williams deserves a slice of it. He has several cards in his favor. All this aside, if this fight doesn't get made it is going to make boxing look very ******. We've already got enough bad things to deal with due to these unexpected fatalities of famous boxers. Williams and Pavlik need to do something to brighten up our day.
I agree, so over all what the problem seems to be is Bob Arum/Top Rank
trying to low ball Goosen and Paul Williams. Bob Arum has been in the
business long enough to know that it wouldn't be fair to not give Williams
some of that gate/sponsorship $. In all honesty, I think he will because
HBO wants this fight to happen, so Bob has to produce or look bad.

I just want to see the fight, enough with the money whining a mill is a mill. I want to see if Pwill can take a good, solid punch from Pavlik because I think he will stand in front of Pavlik and try to outwork him all night.

Pavlik's only real hope is his power and I think we may see Williams dropped at least once in the fight but he could definitely outhustle Pavlik...who is tough as nails too.

      Gonna be great imo.

My big concern for Kelly is that his camp isnt capable of showing him anything different then what he already knows. So an obvious blue print to beat him is out there. I hope Im wrong and they are able to get Kelly away from doing the exact same thing over and over all the while not knowing what to do if the other guy knows how to box and move. If he can actually learn from the Hopkins fight then he should win. Otherwise he is in for another beating. Then again, Wiliams got beat already and fought a close one with the plastered one. He isnt Floyd.

Something tells me Pavlik's best days are behind him. He isn't that huge of a puncher and I don't think he can come close to matching William's work rate. I don't think Williams is going to be any smaller in the ring come fight night either. The notion that he is a significantly smaller fighter is myth. Williams by UD or late stoppage.

The fight would take place on September 26 with Boardwalk Hall in Atlantic City as the most likely venue. As previously reported, HBO is offering $3.75 million for the fight. Pavlik would get $1.75 [plus a piece of gate, etc.], Williams to get $1.55 and Top Rank would get $500K. [details]
wow! williams is getting more than enough here. theres no reason to refuse the fight cause fighting against kelly is very winnable for him

This article seems pretty positive this will get made.

I hope there's no last minute bickering that ****** this deal.

I dislike both fighters in this one, but it ought to be a good fight and seems to be the most sensible one at middleweight in a while.

I don't dislike either of these guys. I just dislike the way they are going about this deal.

Don't get me wrong, I think they are both excellent fighters, it's just I don't like their styles is all.

You have to expect some bickering between Arum Goosen and Haymon.
That's going to be a natural part of any deal they make. They aren't exactly best friends.

I bet the fighters just wanna make some dough and get it on.
