Of course the Hopkins loss has took some shine away from Pavlik as well. The problem with Goosen's position though that I think will keep the fight from getting made is the fact that he is demanding 50-50 for the gate and sponsorship, when his last fight lost money where that is concerned. Now he deserves some of it because of his name, but not half of it.

And the part of the story where I've mentioned that Williams doesn't need Pavlik as much as Pavlik needs him is a reality. I've said that all along because of my frustration with Pavlik for not fighting Abraham. But I don't know man, I'm starting to think that fight not coming off wasn't really Pavlik's or Abraham's fault. HBO just never jumped on the fight for one reason or another. Probably because of Abraham's low profile in the US being the reason. The reason why I think Arum is going to pass on this offer with Williams is because he knows he can still milk Pavlik on a Top Rank PPV. This fight won't happen. Watch.
If Bob Arum/Top Rank let this deal fall through because
they (Top Rank) don't want to give Goosen/Williams a
% of the gate and endorsements is going to leave a sour
taste in HBO's mouth when it comes to dealing with Arum
and Top Rank. It is already stated that HBO has less interest
in Pavlik than Williams. Goosen could probably get a better
deal for Paul against a champ at 154, Sergei. Arum should be
trying his best to get Pavlik back on prime time instead of
leaving him out of the loop. Pavlik already missed a fight
with Abraham and the Super Middle Weight tournament?
At this point Pavlik is going to rust away. I feel since both
fighters are participating in the event then both should share
from all the earnings even if it is not 50/50.

And I forgot to mention that Arum and Co. want 100% of the gate and sponsors. That is another thing that is wrong with these negotiations. They want all of that even though they are caving in a little bit more on the actual HBO money. I'm getting tired of both Pavlik and Williams right about now.

Jesus man!! That's a little bit over the top don't you think? I'm all for the hyperbole here and there but PWill is in many ways still rather unproven. I mean, he's one of the top fighters out there no doubt, but he doesnt have the resume for one to just come out and assume that he's going to knock Pavlik out of the water. I still want to see him live up to his physical potential.

In more general terms, I have been clamoring for this fight ever since Pwill/Winky and I feel it just makes to much sense for it not to be eventually consummated. Negotiations are always tough but in the end but fighters need each other.

Right now I would have to say that I favor PWill in a tough fight. I feel he is too active and athletic for Pavlik and though he may get rocked a few times he should be able to pull it out. Hopefully that will help him begin to attract some fans to his fights. I can't remember a fighter that is talked up this much and still has such a small following - as measured by attendance etc...

strong co-sign! They should share but Pavlik should get the lion's share. He brings more people in than PWill ever has. One can debate the reasons why but right now that just the way it is.

Someone remind me again who was the last knockout with a pulse by "power punching" Pavlik?

Oh yeah, Jermain Taylor, the dude who nearly ended Pavlik's career in the first fight.

Let's be honest, Pavlik's power is overrated. When he has to use power he hasn't shown the ability to do so in a long long time.

You mean Arum and Goosen, with a lil Haymon on the side.
Those three fight more than the 3 stooges but still need each
other all the same. Hopefully this fight gets made because it
is a very interesting and intriguing fight.

A 55/45 deal in favor of Pavlik on
the gate and endorsements is good
                  enough.

They are all involved, but each of their positions are different. Goosen and Haymon don't want 100% of the gate and sponsors. They want 50-50. The problem with that is that Williams draws absolutely no fans to his fights, but he still deserves a slice of it because of the fight itself. I'd say about maybe 35%. The Arum position is totally against giving Williams 1% of the gate. And I explained toward the top of this post why Williams deserves a slice of it. He has several cards in his favor. All this aside, if this fight doesn't get made it is going to make boxing look very ******. We've already got enough bad things to deal with due to these unexpected fatalities of famous boxers. Williams and Pavlik need to do something to brighten up our day.

P Will should let Pavlik have whatever he wants. After this fight P Will will be calling the shots at MW.

How about if P Will winsand has 2-2½ strong years as champ to then fight whoever wins the Super 6?
