He can calculate rounds all he wants, he wasn't hired to score the fight.
Furthermore, at no point did his corner tell him to run. They told him what they had been telling him the first seven rounds, "Don't get careless, just box." And since he was supposedly boxing so well before, why did he stop? Hilarious. Like his corner said, "run, run, run!"
Thre is a point when trainer Alcazar tells him you got the fight won just box the last rounds aka take it easy and don't get caught.
He stopped because he knew he had the fight won and didn't expect a major robbery as it turned out.

How is that any different from what I said? If you're boxing before and your corner tells you to keep boxing how does that translate to you running? No one told him to switch the strategy at any point. Wow, they told him "Don't get caught." I don't know about you but I'm gonna go ahead and assume that statement is as true in the first round as it is the last.
Finally, he didn't stop because he had the fight won. While he believes he did in fact win the fight, Oscar has admitted on plenty of occasions that he stopped because he was tired. Which is exactly what it looked like!

he WAS tired and from the mid-rounds, Tito was beginning to raise his accuracy....then DLH got on his bike

''YOU GOT THE FIGHT WON,keep boxing''.As in we should win unless they robb us big time even if we give the last rounds.

Agreed. It's ludicrous to think someone goes..."I'm boxing so easy, guess what? Now I'ma run!" Any boxer who is supposedly boxing so well will either continue to do that or (hey!) even step it up. But De La Hoya's stick and move strategy worked up until his legs turned to lead and Tito starting closing the distance. It was either run or get continually tagged by one of the hardest-hitting welters ever. It's amazing that people who watch boxing haven't quite figured out why there's never been another instance of a fighter who was supposedly dominating doing something like that

Why don't you put the whole sentence in capitals? He said, "KEEP BOXING" not "RUN FOR YOUR LIFE." Obviously the weary Oscar could NO LONGER keep boxing.

Man, even Harold Lederman disagrees with you. Take a poll of nearly every major outlet who covered the fight and they had it a one or two point swing in either direction. He didn't win the fight easy and it wasn't a blowout. Actually, he didn't win the fight at all.
