Well death is emotional, by making such comments youre making light of a serious situation. Put your family member in the situation and reflect, it may make your words come out differently. All Im saying is speculating on something when you were not there is silly IMO. Nobody knows how they would act in such a situation, to say otherwise is silly.
If Vernon Forrest didn't own a gun

Making comments do not make light of a serious situation. This is a total cop out statement from you. Read my post and tell me if I made fun of Vernon or even suggested that I am taking this situation lightly.Well death is emotional, by making such comments youre making light of a serious situation. Everyone in this forum do not exactly know what has happened, which includes you, but we are free to make comments about the events as long as it is not disrespectful to Vernon and his family. I think when I say that Vernon could have walked away from this alive, especially now that more clear reports are coming out about the situation, does not in any way disrespect the former champ or belittle his accomplishments in out of the ring.Comment

A professional boxer of Forrest's caliber wouldn't have given chase after someone stealing his wallet if he didn't have a gun? WTF????Comment

Best post on the thread. End of discussion. No, if people didn't try to rob him, he would be alive today.
Don't blame vernon for his own murder. He was minding his own business. Everyone reacts differently in situations and vernon decided to defend himself. Whether or not you agree with his decision, the fact of the matter is people tried to rob him and then murdered him.
Don't blame his death on him or the fact he had a gun. It's our right as americans to defend ourselves if we choose to do so.Comment

Vernon Forrest was not back at his car, he was shot while returning to his car. He ran after what he thought was the thief (which turned out to be someone else). The person who shot him came out from a car on the side of the road and shot him repeatedly in the back of the head.....GO to MYFOX5ATLANTA.COM AND READ THE STORY..........BTW Vernon Forrest has a concealed weapons permit, and is a honorary Augusta Police Officer....Other ATLANTA NEWS CAST have reported that Forrest did not run after the person until he (and witnesses) heard a woman scream for help............Rest In Peace Vernon, Love Always The Boxing Family and CommunityComment

ATLANTA - Vernon Forrest, a former three-time champion who gained stardom when he became the first boxer to defeat "Sugar" Shane Mosley, was shot to death during an apparent robbery in Atlanta, police said Sunday.
Sgt. Lisa Keyes said in an e-mail Sunday that Forrest, 38, was shot several times in the back Saturday night, which an autopsy confirmed. Keyes said there are no suspects.
"Vernon was one of the few decent people in boxing," promoter Gary Shaw said. "I mean really decent. He cared about mentally challenged adults. He cared about kids. I just can't believe it."
Fulton County medical examiner Michele Stauffenberg confirmed the case was a homicide and that the autopsy showed Forrest died from "multiple gunshot wounds involving the torso and thigh." Keyes said a police report on the shooting was not immediately available.Comment
