welterweight = 141-147. that means u can have a fight between 141-147 & call it a welterweight match or championship.

there are no rules prohibiting title fights to only take place at the limit of 147.

no one is breaking any rules here.

147 limit means u cant have a title fight above 147. there no rules against having title fights between 141-147 MEANS WELTERWEIGHT.

this is not that hard to figure out.

hopkins vs de la hoya was fought at 158, 2lbs below 160 (middleweight LIMIT).

LIMIT NOT THE SAME AS REQUIRED OR MANDATORY. 2 different meanings.

they are not breaking new ground here. this is the same exact scenario with pernell whitaker vs cesar chavez.

they fought for whitaker's welterweight title @ 145 lbs.
I'm sure he has something to say to counter that, no matter how ****** it might sound.

I accept your Offer to fight you at a weight that I'm not my 100% for those 3 Mil. But if you want my Title I earned and defended at 250 div limit rules then you have to pay up or agree for me to fight at the Title Div rules limit

He only weigh in 2x at the maximum limit of 147, against Margacheato and Mosley. Now you can say, it was his option to weight in at 1 pound less at 147 and there was no catchweight. But the point is he didn't play by the rules of the weight limit.
Yes he did by his own option witch it wasn't decided by the oponent

                  • cotto's not suppose to have that ****** belt anyway.

michael jennings didn't weight 147 when he fought cotto for it.
