hopkins vs de la hoya was fought at 158, 2lbs below 160 (middleweight LIMIT).
LIMIT NOT THE SAME AS REQUIRED OR MANDATORY. 2 different meanings.
they are not breaking new ground here. this is the same exact scenario with pernell whitaker vs cesar chavez.
they fought for whitaker's welterweight title @ 145 lbs.
