Lacy was a great win for Calzaghe, because he put a schooling on one of the most hyped fighters ever, and won a fight he was the heavy favourite to lose.


Calzaghe is a great, and had an excellent career.

LOL @ this clown. He beats Hopkins in a controversial fight and never gives him the rematch but gives other Europeans bums rematches. Ducks Glen Johnson because of his broken heart and duck Chad Dawson and runs away to retirement.

He beat Hopkins. Simple. Why should he fight Johnson and Dawson? He is an old man himself. 38. Thats no young prospect.

the brits are the only one that truly overrated lacy. before & after the fact. how can a guy who had 22 or 23 fights & didnt face a great fighter get so much publicity before & after a loss.

That goes beyond the realms of 'revisionism' into those of 'complete joke'. As has been said, all the Lacy hype and publicity came from the American side of the Atlantic. Most US journos (I recall all of one dissenting opinions) thought Calzaghe had little chance.

In answer to your question, Lacy was an exciting fighter to watch, had won a belt, defended it several times, the hype machine was in full swing and Americans wanted him to be the 'next Tyson'.

yes that same over the hill hopkins that beat pavlik. obliterated is too wishful of a word to use to describe the fight in order to reinforce your statement. obliterated is pacquiao icing hatton in 2 rounds. not a unanimous 12 round decision.

hopkins didnt go back to his prime when he beat pavlik. it said more about how good pavlik really is than hopkins not being over the hill.

CALZAGHE DISGRACED EUROPE, he has brought a bad name to european fighters. I blame calzaghe for european fighters never getting the respect they deserve from americans. he was good but not great. now every american thinks all europeans slap, fight nothing but bums and have bad technique.
