Calzaghe is a great, and had an excellent career.
but he's not tyson. he should have lost to sheika and basically got outboxed in every single fight till scoring a come from behind ko.

it was a dead even fight according to the oddsmakers. those crazy guys!

He beat Hopkins. Simple. Why should he fight Johnson and Dawson? He is an old man himself. 38. Thats no young prospect.

There is always going to be an upcoming fighter like Dawson. He has to bow out sometime. Thats not ducking. If he was 10 years younger he would have fought them.

That goes beyond the realms of 'revisionism' into those of 'complete joke'. As has been said, all the Lacy hype and publicity came from the American side of the Atlantic. Most US journos (I recall all of one dissenting opinions) thought Calzaghe had little chance.

In answer to your question, Lacy was an exciting fighter to watch, had won a belt, defended it several times, the hype machine was in full swing and Americans wanted him to be the 'next Tyson'.

hopkins didnt go back to his prime when he beat pavlik. it said more about how good pavlik really is than hopkins not being over the hill.

clearly indicating a still in their prime figthers.

doesnt take a rocket scientist to figure out what would have happend if calzaghe faced both guys in their 20s early 30s.
Are we talking about the same Bernard Hopkins here? You know, the Hopkins that is #3 on the current P4P list.

The same Bernard Hopkins that you yourself put at #3 just 8 days ago?

as long as bhop & raffa havent said they are retired they should still be p4p. the second they lose or announce their retirement then they get dropped. only then.
It can't be though because he's all washed up right?

CALZAGHE DISGRACED EUROPE, he has brought a bad name to european fighters. I blame calzaghe for european fighters never getting the respect they deserve from americans. he was good but not great. now every american thinks all europeans slap, fight nothing but bums and have bad technique. I hope that Cleverley will not take the same route as calzaghe.
