Berto should be more exciting in the ring if he wants more money. He looks big and fast but all he does is jab punch hold over and over. He needs to be outright more impressive if he wants bigger money. Mosley is impressive and is coming off an impressive win he can demand this. Besides Pacman KO's microwaved guys and demands 70% from legitimate WW.
Seriously, who the heck would want to see Berto-Collazo II? The first fight was pretty good, but who cares? Berto needs to step up. If that means taking a little less than usual to fight an all time great then do it. Beating Mosley would mean much bigger paydays in the future. Now if he loses (he would BTW), then we would all know he was a joke anyway!
If you know anything about Oscar De La Hoya, you will know that this is common practice for him. He lowballs every fighter he has ever fought or put on one of his cards. That was why there was no rematch between him and Felix Trinidad or Mayweather. If you have ever seen one of the undercards on his PPV, you will see nothing but garbage fights because he doesn't want to pay top fighters what they deserve, so he throws C and D-class fighters on his undercards but still charges 50 bucks. I hope Berto turns the offer down. That will leave Mosley with no dance partner for at least a year, unless he chooses to fight Zab Judah or Paul Williams. If he does, he will have to give them a lot more than he is willing to pay Berto.
That is usually the case with the Golden Boy undercards. But Every once in a while they get it right like with the Barrera-Juarez rematch having a good one, and then they are throwing the Juarez-John rematch on the Mayweather-Marquez undercard, and the first fight was pretty exciting. Arum just puts nothing but garbage fights on undercards from top to bottom. I don't know when the last time Arum put on a PPV with a good undercard.
The situation of Berto bitching out of this fight because he wants a short cut to the top without doing a little bit of heavy lifting just killed the last bit of interest I had in the match up. It had my full interest after Berto showed some heart in the Collazo fight and pulled the last two rounds out with effective punching and sheer will. But it went down the tubes after Berto made us sit through that borefest with Urango. And the fact that he isn't jumping on this opportunity tells me right there that he knows Mosley would whip his f#cking punk ass. This guy is a fraud because HBO had no business paying him over a half million bucks to fight ESPN caliber fighters like Urango. I don't blame Mosley one bit for the position he's taking.
I would rather see SHane fight Clottey. Clottey has fought the two best welterweights of the last 2 years Margaritto and Cotto and performed well enough to at least get a shot at Shane. Berto needs to give Collazo a rematch and HBO needs to give them a little more money to fight that rematch. HBO is the reason why all these low ball offers are being put out there. Shane deserves more than 2 million a fight. He got that against Margarito. Shane should get at least 3 million to fight on HBO. He is a draw in California and Vegas.
All this tells me is that Berto was overpaid for the Urango fight and Mosley isn't willing to make that mistake.
I can't believe Berto got paid that much for those fights. This the shot all young fighters want at any cost(750,000 is still alot of money). I guess he has the WBC belt he thinks he is the top dog. He has good speed, but never impressed me.
I guess Andre can continue collecting appearance fee's.
Berto's hosting at a nightclub down the street from my house tonight. Pretty cool spot I go to alot....just too damn cold tonight. It's freaking July!!!!
