Taking out JT to add Andrade and Bika is laughable.
What would be the point in taking out JT who was 14 seconds away from beating Froch, only to add Andrade, who has two lopsided losses to both Bute and Kessler? If he didn't have a granite chin, he'd have been KO'd in both those fights as he was completely outclassed with the exception of the final minute against Bute.
And Bika is underrated IMO but also completely unproven at the top level and has been outclassed by two champions as well.
Taylor is at least highly competitive even in his losses and has beaten much better opposition than either Bika or Andrade.Comment

Taylor gassed out in both hopkins fights, gassed out against pavlik adn gassed against froch. He does not have championship caliber stamina.Taking out JT to add Andrade and Bika is laughable.

I agree with you a little bit. it would work out much better if they just went to single elimination, adding two fighters. they could have easily thrown in Bika, Andrade, or some other super middleweight that could be a dark horse that no one has heard of, just to fill in the gap.
they could still have multiple matchups between the guys even if they were eliminated, because they could go on to try and become the 3rd place winner...and maybe replace a finalist if one of the finalists has to pull out, for some reason. a mini tournameant in the bigger tournmeant.
BUT, having said that, I hardly consider it a problem. I mean, even if we only get half the fights, it would still be badass. almost a dream come true to see such a variety of fighters all pitted up against one another.
and Jermain Taylor has all rights to be in the tournameant. Froch is in the tournameant, and he was getting beaten pretty badly before the fantastic comeback. a recent loss does not disgrace you, especially one like that.
I LOVE this tournameant.Comment

These guy need at least 4 to 5 months in between fights. People will be interested in this they be getting three great fights every to 4 to six months. You're wrong the quality of fights will be getting will keep people interested and anticipating the next set of fights.2 months maybe a little short but 10-12 weeks is more than enough time. A typical training camp is 8 weeks for a fight. Most fighters would like to fight more often than they do anyway, lack of dates and big money keep them less active. The fringe fan will not be interested for 2 years. You can count on that. Boxing needs the fringe or casual fan to come on board in order to grow the sport.
And changing JT for Bute, Andrade and Bika now that's just plain dumb. JT is better than all of them combined. Showtime hit the nail on the head with this one. They got the right guys at the right time the round robin format is pure genius we'll be seeing the true definition of what style making fights really means.
The changes you are proposing would make this just another boring run of the mill, copy and paste tournament where we couldn't be certain on who can beat who. With the super six tournament we'll know for sure who can beat who, we'll get to see a lot more fights and every possible matchups between the very best of the division. Nothing needs to be changed I hope they apply this to other divisions.Comment

You are missing the point. This tourney is perfect for us fans who love boxing. I agree. But it will be too long for the causal fan to keep interested with. And fighters DO NOT need 4/5 months to prepare for fights. That is ridiculous. Boxing must captivate the casual fan in order to turn the casual fan into a diehard like us. A 2 year long tourney will not do that. These guy need at least 4 to 5 months in between fights. People will be interested in this they be getting three great fights every to 4 to six months. Gassed out or not, he got two decisions over Hopkins, almost KO'd Pavlik before being KO'd himself in the first fight, lost a close decision in the rematch, and would've won the Froch fight if he'd have stayed on his feet for 14 more seconds.
Even in his three losses he's been competitive, and they've all come to undefeated champions.
Bika and Andrade have both been outclassed when they've challenged for belts, and have nothing on their resumes that is comparable to Taylor's.
Taylor's the longshot in this tournament but at least he'd have a chance, which is more than you can say for Andrade or Bika who would not be competitive IMO.Comment

Bute is the only one that can claim he should be in this tourney, over any of the Americans. Balzsay has beaten nobody, besides Inkin, who himself has beaten absolutely nobody. Andrade has been embarassed by Kessler and was lucky in the 12th vs. Bute (kind of how lucky Froch was vs. Taylor in the 12th). Bika just isn't that good. Whether it was the Calzaghe fight or the Bute fight, he disappears when it really matters.
Personally, I would have made it an 8-man tournament by adding Bute and Allan Green, and have it be single elimination...ELITE 8 style.Comment
