It's Povetkin who wants the warm-up in Sepember, on the advice of Teddy Atlas. He won't be ready until December.

            I certainly wouldn't mind that, even though it'd be a one-sided schooling.

Povs is an idiot for not wanting to go ahead and take his mandatory shot in September. He was the one who got injured last year, so he should be a man and step up.

Wlad wants to fight in September. But Chambers will not be ready until October at the earliest, and then he has to fight Povetkin in early December.

Wlad's training camp nutritionalist who posts at another forum says Wlad is trying to get an extension past December 12 for the Povetkin deadline so he can fight Arreola in September or October (or Chambers in October if he's ready) and then Povetkin in January.

Which is a must. Hell, he could probably have two fights and finish off the year and then try to be the first opponent Wlad has in 2010 (unless Wlad plans on retiring at the end of this year).

The first fight will at least be good to see if Povetkin and Atlas can work together and if they can, see if there is even the slightest improvement.

Povetkin can at least work on his body for starters.

Not saying you have to look like Wlad to be a fighter since Fedor doesn't have Wlad's body, but at least Fedor holds the weight well and is smooth like a cat. It just seems to hurt Povetkin.

I got to watch a short clip of Ali sparring in Russia against some Soviet HW boxers and they looked fit. It was on ESPN classics. Ali was in **** shape and didn't prepare but that's another story. Point is, what happened to that mentality for the top branch of HW?

                    I agree...

Povetkin MUSt be an idiot to choose Teddy Atlas as his trainer. Here's what Donny Lalonde says about Atlas:

"Generally speaking I performed poorly when I was being trained by Teddy as his focus on negativity had reduced my overall confidence in myself."

"The reason I fought some stiffs when I was with him is a direct result of what he DID to me as a fighter, look at my career before and after and you can see it was much better ANY time I wasn't with Teddy. Sorry Teddy but the proof is in the record books. I was the Champion of the World!!"

"I hope he gets the psychiatric help he apparently needs."

Kirk Johnson, Michael Grant and Shannon Briggs all make similar comments about Teddy Atlas.

Povetkin was suppose to fight Wlad last December, but remember he injured his leg? Then he decided to take a tune-up and fight Estrada in April, if anything it's Povetkin that's delaying the fight. I think it would be best for Chambers and Wlad to fight in late October or early November and Povetkin fight the winner.
