marvin hagler vs bernard hopkins in middleweight

tarver was overrated...made a name for himself beating all of jones leftovers...jones was his big hard on, and when he finally beat him, you saw how mediocre he was when he couldn't quite get motivated to fight anybody other than roy or dominate anybody else...as long as jones reigned over 175, hopkins (even though he was a lightheavy fighting at middleweight) was content to fight the morrade hakkars of the world at 160...hopkins only moved up to 175 once he saw jones was shot and was convinced that tarver was a unmotivated one hit wonder...Comment

as if losing to taylor wasn't bad enough...2X at that ....llmfao...
he had the choice of fighting a prime winky wright at his best weight and a green taylor...we all know who he chose and how he lost so no need to revisit that...lol...
after that embarrassing set of losses, had the option of fighting calzaghe 1 division up at 168 or fighting the ultimate fighting machine (lol) tarver at 175...i guess he had the foresight to know that he would have lost to calzaghe at any time and at any weight...lmmfaoComment

i think it would be a NC, because hopkins and marvins heads would collide, and they both have hard bald heads,
i expect huge cuts.Comment

I would put my money on Hagler. But I would NOT be at all surprised to see Hopkins figure out a way to pull out the win.
Thing is, and I'm not putting this in a "Hopkins fights smaller guys" type of way, but he's just so physical and I don't think his physicality has ever been matched really. Hagler would match him in terms of physicality and is also comparable in terms of skill. Plus he's a southpaw. Obviously Hopkins hasn't proved to have any sort of trouble with southpaw's, but some southpaw's come at tougher angles than others.
It's just so hard to deter Hagler. I've never seen Hopkins win a fight where he got absolutely zero respect. Hagler would give him no respect. Hagler's win over Mugabi, in my opinion, is arguably his best win. That was a large, large man that just wilted while Marvin did not.
Out of all the fantasy fights, this one intrigues me as much as any. Hell, throw Monzon in there. He'd be a serious handful for either one as well.Comment

Spot on. Its obvious that you've done a little history on Hagler.I would put my money on Hagler. But I would NOT be at all surprised to see Hopkins figure out a way to pull out the win.

1. Duran didn't win any title at 168.duran grabbed titles at 160 and 168 against moore (?) and barkley when it was thought he was finished...Lalonde floored srl before ray got him outta there...hearns grabbed titles at 160, 68 and at 175 against a prime virgil hill...
tito, de la doughboy, etc. don't compare to srl, duran, hearns, or even hagler's b-list comp. at 160 and above...again, hagler's biggest $ wins came smaller men, but true all-time greats...far stiffer comp than hopkins would ever face outside of jones and calzaghe, to which again, he lost to both...and look at that weak list of fighters hopkins rolled over to get 20 defenses against...robert allen 3 times, morrade (sp) hakkar? give me a break
man i can go on and on about hopkins overrated career..lol
2. Lalonde, for lack of a better term, ******.
3. You have a serious hate problem for Hopkins.Comment

Tarver held two belts at 175 BEFORE he fought Jones. And was on quite a run - an extremely impressive one - before the two met. You act like Tarver was some nobody, he was absolutely Jones' biggest threat at 175 before he decided to go to heavyweight. And you're right, he couldn't get up for anyone after Roy, although he somehow managed to beat Glen Johnson twice IMO RIGHT AFTER.tarver was overrated...made a name for himself beating all of jones leftovers...jones was his big hard on, and when he finally beat him, you saw how mediocre he was when he couldn't quite get motivated to fight anybody other than roy or dominate anybody else...as long as jones reigned over 175, hopkins (even though he was a lightheavy fighting at middleweight) was content to fight the morrade hakkars of the world at 160...hopkins only moved up to 175 once he saw jones was shot and was convinced that tarver was a unmotivated one hit wonder...
Your last statement is just weird. You have issues with Hops, I get it. But seriously...serious?Comment
