Floyd only listened to some fighters but not to other fighters.
Interesting that Cotto called out Floyd after the Mosley fight.
    Floyd ignored him and retired.

Mayweather turns down $8 million to fight Margarito
According to Arum, Mayweather turned down the career-best purse to meet Margarito on Aug. 12 on HBO Pay-Per-View, instead opting for free agency by buying Arum out of their deal for $750,000.

"I did hear from him," Arum said of Mayweather. "He decided not to fight this summer. I made him a tremendous offer. I think Margarito is the riskiest fight for him of anyone out there."
Floyd Mayweather Jr. rejected promoter Bob Arum's $8 million offer to fight welterweight titlist Antonio Margarito, and he instead exercised a provision in his contract to buy Arum out.

Team Mayweather Selects Latest Excuse To Duck Cotto
24.04.08 - By Scoop Malinowski: Team Mayweather has floated several different excuses and reasons to duck Miguel Cotto in the past but this week, probably after extremely careful deliberation, they've come out and settled on one - that Cotto lacks enough star power to interest Floyd..

Team Mayweather has also used several other flimsy excuses to avoid Cotto: 1. We won't do business with Bob Arum again. 2. I'm not going to let boxing retire me, I will retire from boxing, when asked by Larry Merchant on HBO after the Hatton win if he will fight Cotto. 3. Floyd's bored with boxing. 4. Floyd's body is breaking down. 5. Cotto is a punching bag and he knows he can't beat Floyd. 6. Floyd may go to MMA or WWE.

Cotto would be the biggest test for Floyd and let's compare there wins:

      Floyd at 140 POUNDS:

      Corley
      Gatti
      Brussels.

      Miguel at 140 POUNDS:

      Malignaggi
      Branco
      Torres
      Corley
      Pinto
      N'dou
      Sosa
      Maussa

      Floyd at 147 POUNDS:

      Judah
      Baldomir
      Hatton
      Mitchell

      Miguel at 147 POUNDS:

      Urkal
      Mosely
      Judah
      Quintana
      Clottey
      Margarito

108-pound champion Ivan Calderon had a burner of a quote: "After I win my fight at the Garden on Saturday night, I'm going for Floyd Mayweather Jr. next, since he only wants to fight guys smaller than him."
Ivan Calderon called him out. Most likely Mayweather would fight him

If Cotto had gotten to WW first and beat baldo and judah and it was Mayweather asking for a fight.
          1. What would you say??
          2. Do you give more credit to Floyd for beating De La Hoya to SD or Cotto for beating Mosley to UD?
          3. Take in consideration that Mosley beat De La Hoya twice.

Horus im a mayweather fan but your bordering on ridiculas, please explain how jmm does everthing better than cotto when they fight nothing alike?????
Jmm is a far superior boxer than cotto BUT cotto is a tougher fight because cotto struggles against bigger men,he has never had trouble with samller men that he can bully and basically walk through punches, which he will be able to do with mayweather, you saying he has a weak chin,my god i really dont know where to sart with you,his chin was weak at 140,at 147 its been tested against the biggest power punchers in the division and he has not been knocked down...
Cotto hits harder than Jmm,mayweather will be pot shotting cotto and cotto has a big punchers chance of hurting floyd where as marquez does not, marquez and mayweather have the same counter punching styles.......
Cotto also swithes to southpaw during fights sometimes which mayweather has struggled with in the past...
Be a fan but be realistic if marquez was a harder fight floyd would not have fought him after 2 years off, ther demand for cotto-mayeathers is huge even after the margarito, man you really are embarassing yourself and mayweather fans....

When will you guys learn size doesnt always win fights...
Skills win fights. brains win fights, experience wins fights...

and JMM beats cotto in all of those departments.

SO can someone explain how stylistically cotto is a tougher fight for Floyd than JMM?
and to think I argued this back in july...

Whats change in cotto style since 2006? When he wasnt ready for Mayweather and people were calling him green?

                he still
                1. Swings wide,
                2. Waste Punches,
                3. has a weak chin
                4. Cant stop straight right hands or uppercuts,
                5. and is under progressing in the lateral movement department.

and this is when he said he was still green....????
what did he improve??? to say
"Cotto is the toughest fight for floyd stylistically" ...what did he improve..?

Cotto has always had a good jab, cotto has always had good speed....Cotto is a good fighter...real good...he is a good body puncher and works hard..
                so that hasnt change...

so what change so much that he is now ready to beat a fighter like mayweather...?
I have been saying this for years...

cotto is no more a threat to floyd then oscar was at 154.

horus these guys have seen all of floyds fights and are convinced it will take a bigger fighter then floyd to beat him. they are really clueless since floyd spars qwith 154-168 fighters in sparring rotating them in for a full 15 rounds.

cotto gasses within 6, so he is no threat to floyd at all. clottey and shane got robbed because they fought him in new york, if they had fought in vegas you would have a different outcome.

cotto is so overrated and margo showed he was not an leite level fighter that could ever handle a fighter like floyd.

Brandish, why is that now people are finally realizing what most of us have been saying all along...?
