After working with Atlas, boxers go downhill. He makes Buddy McGirt seem like a world-class trainer.

    - Tyson lost on the Olympic trials some time after Atlas was fired as D'Amato's assistant, but because of Iron Mike's young age, he was able to rebound to become a great fighter
    - Grant was no longer a bona fide contender after his time with Atlas
    - Moorer won a title despite him, but then fell from contender status as Atlas got into his head
    - Lalonde feared for his life, as Atlas threatened to kill him

Working with this unstable egomaniac will be the biggest mistake of Poverkin's career.
out are wrong on several fronts.teddy was hired by grant & before the guinn fight he fought Gilbert Martinez.after the fight teddy told grant flat out you got to work harder & be commited or we can't work together.grant already got a mulligan from teddy after he broke his ankle vs mccline.teddy stuck with him but after the guinn fight teddy resigned because grant didn't have the heart to compete at the level needed to contend.secondl moorer was going to quit vs Holyfield & atlas dragged him across the finishline to a bull**** title victory(moorer lost in most eyes),I'll throw in Shannon Briggs to as he was 24-0 & teddy questioned his dedication(he was making rap CDs & doing some acting),& he asked Briggs to put boxing ahead of his outside stuff & he wouldn't then came the Wilson loss on hbo(inferior opponent compared to Briggs)& teddy resigned as his trainer.he's an old school,no nonsense trainer who expects 110% effort fighting & training.he HATES quitters & several of his guys couldn't give him their all so he parted ways.povetkin with his work ethic(I hear is exemplary)could be the perfect fit.moorer, grant, kirk Johnson,Briggs all didn't have the work ethic atlas demands.none of them did anything without him.atlas never even consider peter who ask him to train him.peter keeps getting fatter.he's a great trainer.it's funny other than steward I think atlas would be good for wlad too.wlad is the hardest working heavyweight & teddy would love working with him but vitali(the Byrd quit has never sat well with teddy).

Briggs did win a title with 1 second left so for 1 second he accomplished something but you listen to Briggs he always refers to teddy as the guy who made him a man & atlas was the 1st person he called to thank after the fight.

didn't Tyson(19 at the time) put his hands all over teddy 13 year old niece? Teddy put a gun to his head....I would too considering Tyson 5 years later went prison for ****! I don't think teddy had any effect on tyson amateur career at all.I think you don't like teddy because he think vitali is a quitter.rightfully so but he did give vitali his due for becoming a pro vs lewis.I just think you hate teddy because he's hard on your klit boys.I think teddy would predict butterbean to beat the klits.

Shannon Briggs was undefeated (24-0) when Atlas started working with him, but soon afterwards had his first loss, after which Teddy quit.

Povetkin is undefeated now, but will soon have his first loss if he works with Atlas.

Teddy Atlas is a terrible trainer. And he's a mentally unstable born loser who always screws up.

Tyson was age 14-15 at the time Atlas was D'Amato's assistant.

Teddy also went after Donny Lalonde with a gun.

I disagree strongly trainers can teach you alot and continue teaching you even when you are a world class fighter....Look at Cotto he is world class you don;t think that someone could teach him a different style of fighting or maybe improve his jab or deffense? You mean to tell me that since 2006 Manny hasn't improved his boxing skills and the use of his right hand? Povetkin is a young 20 since he has less ring time he can still be coached...Whether or not Teddy is the man to do it remains to be seen but in todays watered down heavy weight picture he is a good horse and now if Teddy can mesh with him he might be the one to push him over the top....Lefty

P/S Teddy wasn't fired or that wasn't the whole story anyways Iron Mike tried to corner his siter and agressively pushed up on her. This caused friction between he and Teddy then Cus got rid of Teddy not because he was a bad trainer....Lefty

Huge ego is written over everything that Teddy says or tries to do. I believe that the reason he "quits" or is fired, is because he makes such a big "splash" with publiciry when he begins his association with various boxers, that when the inevitable result occurs, he wants to creep away and either pretend he never was really "gung-ho" or that HE walked away because of lack of dedication. He cponveniently forgets all the BUMPF he has told the news media at the beginning of his stint. He has shown many times that he is a genuine egomaniac in my opinion, and really fancies himself as a "psychologizer" and boxing guru.

It's almost a given, that whoever he fancies to make it to the top, or to win a fight, will lose. Teddy 's backing is the "kiss of death" and my observations over the years have been that if Teddy fancies a particular fighter to win, it's about a 75% probability that he will lose....................and there's more, but what the heck........

I don't think Teddy was with D'Amato long enough to show wheter he was good or not. He was very young and a sort of assistant to an assistant ............AMATEUR, I believe, I've never seen anywhere that D'Amato paid him.
