Victor Ortiz Clears The Air On The Maidana TKO Loss

Freddy Roach said Ortiz' offense is his defense, now I didn't understand that at first cause I thought Ortiz had decent head movement. We saw his head movement set up that counter left in the Mike Arnaoutis fight. But once Ortiz got hurt and started to get tagged in this fight, he looked like he couldn't reset himself successfully with out eating more big shots. He couldn't avoid the right hand, he couldn't settle down and find his angles. All he could do is brawl. Even after the 4th in which he looked like he got his legs and paitence back. Come the 5th, he couldn't get away from eatin a big shot. So If he's really interested in fighting again, hopefully they'll turn him into a more looser fighter with better defense.

But yeah, his strength and speed is on point. I think the reason why Maidana was coughin and chokin for air in the interview after the fight was due to Ortiz breakin or fracturing Maidana's ribs in that 4th round. Plus he was pokin at his jaw toward the end of that interview. As morbid as it sounds, lol that's damage done. So yeah, if Ortiz wants to fight again he's got enough physical strength to do so.

Ortiz is a quitter. When he wins he is all happy go lucky. When he gets pushed to the edge, he gives in. Im not gonna change my mind on him until he gets put in the same situation and shows the heart to continue fighting.

i finally just got finished watching a replay and wow, talk about FOOT in MOUTH. i was really starting to like ortiz with his background, personality, and attitude, but then he goes off saying some pretty ****** things for a boxer to say. champions don't talk like that. anyway, i hope the kid comes back cuz he could make a great champ.

Don't like the way oscar and his girlfriend - Richard Sceufer (or however you spell it) are making it sound like their boy (ortiz) was pulled out by the doctor and he lost because of getting blows to the back of the head. What about the shots he was catching with his face?

It's quite worrying ortiz quit like that because it didn't even look like he had been hit with to many shots. He got caught with a few clean punches and his ass fell out!
