  • Victor Ortiz Clears The Air On The Maidana TKO Loss

LOS ANGELES - After Saturday's thrilling world title match, which ended in a sixth round technical knockout victory for Argentinean Marcos Maidana when the fight was stopped by the ringside physician due to a severe cut over Victor Ortiz' right eye and swelling under his left eye, Ortiz wants to clear the air with the media and public regarding his performance. As long as he sorts his attitude out, I think he has a chance of becoming a world champion in a few years time. Quitting at the first sign of adversity is not gonna get you to the top. Hopefully he understands this and we won't see a repeat of saturday again in his career.

Sure he is, you don't think he could beat a Paulie Malignaggi or Lovemore Ndou type?

I'm still a Victor Ortiz fan. I think he can rebound. We don't know if he can come back strong, but that's part of the excitement.

This part: "I am young, have things to learn and I guarantee you, I will be a world champion... MARK MY WORDS... Just watch me!" That sounds like GBP Publicity Dept. working overtime. Doesn't sound like Ortiz.
