Ortiz has taken the first step to rebuilding his career and reputation...let's wait and see how he does next time out. Richard Schaeffer on the other hand is just making things worse with these wild charges of rabbit punches being a reason Victor lost. He was in the hospital until 3 a.m. because these so-called rabbit punches? Oh, for ****'s sake! - Let the kid take his lumps and learn from this instead of making up silly excuses. You didn't hear Josh Clottey crying about a REAL rabbit punch after the Cotto win.

          He's Broke

This kid is broke, you can not say what he said, emotional or not. You all can give him props for being a man standing behind his comments, which actually means he is a quiter that don't want to get hit and will not put it all on the line to win. Like I said he is broke. It's not worth it to him to fight. Even if he gets another big fight when he gets hit and hurt he will quit again!!! In closing it's not his fault it's the promoters they gave him the wrong fight, the wrong venue, with the wrong expectations! Ortiz didn't have the Olympic gold and experience like Oscar. He nor very few can handle that type of pressure.

I'm glad to hear that from Victor. He maned up. He's right, he fought a ****** ass fight. He tried to out slug a guy who had only had one fight go the distance when he could have easily outboxed Maidana all night and probably could have stopped him late. He's young and hopefully this will toughen him up mentally. He did take a beating but not a career ending beating. I criticized him for quitting but he probably did the right thing as far as his career goes. He didn't take too much damage physically and as long as he learns from this, he'll be back better than ever. If he had kept fighting, he would have likely gotten brutally KTFO.

This part: "I am young, have things to learn and I guarantee you, I will be a world champion... MARK MY WORDS... Just watch me!" That sounds like GBP Publicity Dept. working overtime. Doesn't sound like Ortiz.
He will destroy maidana in a rematch

If I remember right, there was something mentioned prior to Pacquiao/Oscar "DELIA" Hoya fight that this Victor Ortiz sparred with Pacman and was beat up by Manny Pacquiao. If that story is true, then I wonder if it is still affecting Victor Ortiz.

I blame GBP for Ortiz devastating lost to Maidana. GBP push Ortiz to do a short cut on his way to be a contender. They were supposed to make a gradual and certain plan for Ortiz to reach his potential but was instead persuaded to take the fast lane to his eminent downfall.

Schaefer should shut his mouth, he aint helping Ortiz by making excuses. Golden Boy won't let him fight a puncher for a while.
