He said he couldn't even stand and was trying to buy time to get out of the round. There is a big difference between a fighter trying to buy time and survive and a fighter walking over and telling a doctor no more.
Oh okay Pump here is an analogy. "Brb Pump i'm going to the barber shop to get a haircut" Weather i get a blow out or a Caesar cut, at the end of the day it's still a hair cut. The style of haircut i chose doesn't change the fact that i went to cut my hair.

Now, did Cotto protest about his corner throwing in the towel? no. Ortiz didn't neither but Cotto took two knees to recover? come on he was basically inviting the stoppage. He was looking at his corner in need of help. With his face that said "please save me uncle, throw in the towel".

They both quit, that's all i'm saying, It does not matter how they did it. You can't sit there and categorize the types of quitters like if it makes you any more special than the next man if you quit a certain way.

It's sad when the biggest boxing network makes bad decisions that hurts boxing in a whole. They shouldn't be making "exclusive" deals with 1 company at all. That's just bad. Now that things went sour, it all goes downhill. Arum knows his **** and he's speaking the truth. In regards to the Ortiz comment, I totally agree with him but more so with I think Nate Campbell who mentioned how none of the new fighters today have heart. It's very true. They are in it for a paycheck and to get out as quick as possible with as little damage as possible. Makes sense yes, but is it good for the sport? No.

He looked at his corner because they were shouting instructions and getting in the ring. Ortiz's corner didn't throw in the towel. He stopped his own fight. Cotto said he did his best and had nothing left in the same way that Morales stayed down after Pacquiao pounded on him for three rounds. Cotto admitted he was done and never disputed that he was done. Ortiz said he fought the wrong fight and would never go out on his shield for anyone, and then turns around in the post fight presser, video found on this site, and talks about how he was fully able to go on fighting and the doctor wouldn't allow him to. Then how he was a one eyed fighter and it wasn't a fair to allow it to continue. Cotto could have used that excuse against Clottey and even the HBO announcers were calling for his corner to stop that fight. Ortiz was smiling and happy after it was called off in the ring?? What the hell was so funny.

Sorry but comparing Cotto to Ortiz is beyond ******. I'm guessing your idiotic comparison is due to your Mayweather Mafia sig, I guess in your mind Cotto "quitting" is a good excuse for Mayweather continuing to run away from a Cotto fight.

Then you have Margarito getting busted with plaster and KO'ed by an aging Mosley under 10 rounds.

Seriously, Arum needs to shut the hell up.
The difference being that Cotto got up willing to fight after each knee and the corner was the one who threw the towel in.

                Ortiz straight up quit.

You say "quitting". But let me ask you something potty mouth, do you honestly believe that Cotto did not quit in his fight against Margarito?

If not, then what was it called? Never mind the towel being thrown in, why take a knee without a punch being thrown? Talk about going out on your shield.
