My point was, Arum shouldn't criticize Ortiz about 'not going out on his shield' because last time i checked, taking voluntary knees is not exactly going out on your shield no matter the beating.

"you really think cotto would of said that **** after the fight?"

Listen buddy, the difference was that Cotto couldn't say anything after the fight, the man walked away from the post fight interview in embarrassment of his own actions in the 11th round. At least Victor stayed and stood up to Kellerman with his own point of view and explanation of not continuing for his own safety.

I'm not hating or comparing anything or anyone, i'm just saying Arum shouldn't criticize in this manner when his fighter Miguel Cotto also quit. Quitting is quitting no matter the beating, both Ortiz and Cotto quit.

        Top Rank

I guess since Juanma and Gamboa signed with Top Rank they'll be fighting cupcakes from now on. Too bad I like both of them.

I think the problem is Victor ortiz spoke too honestly, He basically came out and tell the honest truth which shocked everybody but i admire his honestly, Boxers lie all the time about not been hurt etc, But he came out and said he was hurt and he didnt feel like he could continue.

          He was just too honest...

Sounds like Arum is still pissed that HBO passed up on Clotto/Jennings and Pavlik/Rubio because in years past they bought.

            Cotto/Branco
            Cotto/Urkal
            Cotto/Gomez
            Pavlik/Lockett
            Arce/Ler

What I dislike most about Arum is that he always has something negative to say about fighters outside of his stable.

Arreola: "Too fat, an embarrassment to the Heavyweight division etc."

Winky Wright: "Boring fighter, too defensive, can't draw crowds"

Vic Darchinyan: "Won't get a rematch with Donaire because he can't draw flies to a dumpster, Donaire beats him 10 out of 10 times"(both Vic and Nonito want the fight)

Williams: Reason for not making Cotto vs Williams "Can't draw, doesn't bring anything to the table" but goes ahead and makes a fight with a guy who brings 25 thousand Ghanian fans(sarcasm) for every fight, Joshua Clottey(does not criticize his drawing power because he is from his own stable).

Mosley: While reporters bring Margarito's loss and handwrap scandal, Arum brings up Mosley's ties to Balco and his 2003 steroid accusations trying his best to stay away from Margarito's plaster issue by ****ting on fighters from other stables.

Now his new victim is Victor Ortiz, criticizing him for the same thing his fighter did.

Basically...You can't be too honest in boxing, he pulled an A-Rod here. Bad move but at least we know that although the guy needs more heart, we know that he acknowledges that he quit. "I got beat up by the better man, i couldn't take the beating anymore" that's 100% admitting that you quit, but admitting is the first step that most Cotto stans haven't taken yet.

No props to Ortiz here, i'm not defending him or anything even though i'm a fan of his what he did was heartless but honest. But shame on Arum for ****ting on him like this while he's down and not even mentioning his own fighter.

Cotto in no way did the same thing as Ortiz. He took two knees to allow himself to recover and then his corner threw in the towel because they knew he had nothing left. Ortiz said that he didn't want to continue because he thought he was taking too bad of a beating. Cotto admitted that he was out on his feet and had nothing in his legs. He said he couldn't even stand and was trying to buy time to get out of the round. There is a big difference between a fighter trying to buy time and survive and a fighter walking over and telling a doctor no more.
