Hopkins turns down Kessler?

I know I posted earlier that it was post Calzaghe. Having thought about it I remember it was before christmas 2008.
Best offer by far if he wanted to fight one more time after Pavlik. Nice retirement bonus.Comment

oh okay
well, i think besides the Pavlik thing it still aplies. Hopkins is known for his egotism in negotiating and he wouldn't have liked to be treated as the secondary act against Kessler, nor having to make the sacrifices in weight and location
and the fight wouldn't have been so appealing, or Kessler's name value strong enough, that he would seriously chase it and consider compromises
he's been looking for an opportunity to put a cherry on top since the Pavlik win but i reckon he'll just end up retiring, or maybe taking a fight with Jones Jnr. if he beats Lacy
btw, Hopkins beats Kessler on points

Fair enough.
I just wouldn't base my opinion on the Calzaghe defeat. Kessler didn't spar and entered with a broken hand. I think that Kessler just might regret today that he didn't ask for a postponement although he might have risked Warren to cancel the show and miss out on a ton of cash.Comment

I know that the fight probably wouldn't give Hopkins to much in terms of legacy should he win. Still the offer was on the table and there's no denying that it was a good one with a nice purse.oh okay
