I applaud Victor Ortiz for quitting.

If every fighter went by the Philosophy that Ortiz used the other night Boxing wouldn't be what it is. There would be no wars to speak of, no coming back and winning in the dying seconds via KO.
Even DLH wouldn't go out like that.Comment

the fight was indeed winnable for Ortiz. It was a test of heart, will, and fortitude which clearly, Ortiz did not have. When he looks back at this match, I'm sure he'll be kicking himself. He wimped out... if he ****** it up... he couldve won it. He's hurt, I know, but I've watch enough boxing fights to say that he lacked the heart of a warrior in that particular fight.
On the other hand, Maidana showed tons of heart in contrast to Ortiz. Hopefully, Ortiz reevaluates and bounce back from these a tougher and mentally stronger fighter. That is why that physical talent is not enough... fighters must have balls.
PS: So, unfortunate for GBP, Top rank may have seen this from Ortiz already.Comment

His corner kept asking him if they should stop the fight and he said nothing. My biggest problem was the huge smile he had on his face when he hugged Maidana and after that. It's one thing to quit, but there's no need to be that happy about it.Comment

BennySt is a d*mn fool for trying to justify Ortiz's b*tch made moves he made in the ring and statements he made during the interview.
There is no preserving yourself in boxing, none! If Ortiz's logic for not taking more punishment so he'll have his wits about him after boxing. Well, I can tell you this much, Maidana is not even a great fighter, far from it. And for Ortiz to achieve greatness, he's gonna have to walk through hell to get to the pinnacle of his chosen sport.
Not wanting to take punishment to get to the top is impossible. Even the "protected" ones in boxing could not get away from it. Below are some examples....
Naz, thought he was on top until he met MAB, what happend after.
De La Joto didn't wanna suffer any punishment throughout his career, his natural ability and boxing skills made that possible for the most part. He wanted an "easy" fight against Tito and the judges saw that, guess who got the L.
De La Joto knew B-Hop was starting to hone in on him, first chance he saw a chance to quit conveniently, he took it!
RJJ won by fighting like a b*tch against Toney, sure, he got the W over JT, but he won it the cheap way. What happened once he got clocked, he was never the same!
PAC's been KO'd, beaten to a pulp, and is now the P4P #1 fighter in the world! That's a true mark of greatness!
Great fighters like PAC fight their way out of tough situations. Quitters like the fighters I mentioned above, cave in to it!Comment

Look at this idiot talking about Pacman's greatness. Oscar/Tony/RJJ have all fought top prime American fighters in their natural weight. While Manny Duckman is scared to fight any American yet alone mention their name.
